New version what am I missing?

I know I’m like the famous Japanese soldier who didn’t know the war is over… and I might have asked this already but I can’t find it
I am running Ropieee XL 4.020 which works absolutely fine for me
When I open the configuration page I keep seeing the notification that there’s a new version, but the manual update makes me put it off every time
I am using Airplay occasionally but other than that almost 100% Roon and it all works fine.
Am I missing something that has an important impact in daily usage that might make it worth the effort to update manually? Maybe Airplay2?
any input is much appreciated, thanks

That’s great to hear!

In general you could say that you’re not particularly missing out on something. However, you are missing out on support should you need it in the near future.

Furthermore I could argue that for security reasons it’s also better to update: RoPieee consists of a wide selection of software components that require a regular update as well. Although I must confess that the security implications for a RoPieee unit are rather small should something happen.

Anyways, enjoy your unit and keep in mind that a reflash will only take 10 minutes

Thanks

thanks Harry, I appreciate it!

Question on new version of Ropieee:
It looks like I have to make a download and manually install the new version of Ropieee (no automatic download).
Is there a way to save the settings that you have or do you have to start anew?
Also, when casting using Airplay, what is the maximum audio resolution available?
Thanks!

Settings in Ropieee will be lost, there is little to setup really. AirPlay is limited to 44.1/16 as it always has been as that’s the spec for it.
