Nexus 7 (2012) v7.1.2 ; Roon displays logo, full stop

Sideloaded Roon apk , but when I start Roon it displays the big logo and hangs. The Nexus runs Android v 7.1.2 AOSP.
Is it possible at all to run Roon remote on it?
