No connection to OPPO UDP 205 after update to 1.5 (323)

System set up:
Roon Core running on MacBook Pro (Sierra 10.13.4).
Linksys mesh wireless
Connected Roon devices include 2 airport express, one Apple TV and 2 OPPO UDP 205.
The Roon core does not “see” and does not connect to both OPPOs anymore.

Hello @Antonius_Schuh,

Often with issues relating to devices failing to be discovered, it comes down to an issue with either the DHCP service or multicast routing on your router getting into a bad state. As a first step, I recommend you restart your Roon Core machine, router and any switches that lay in between the Roon Core and OPPO UDP-205, and the OPPO UDP-205. Please make sure to fully power cycle the devices, not just toggle standby mode. Very often, the rediscovery process after all of the devices have been power-cycled will allow for the device to be discovered by Roon again.

ohn,
Thanks – this worked!

May be you can address one other question, which has been asked before by others, yet I am not entirely clear:
Roon (which runs, as stated, on my MacBook Pro as core) offers the option to select the OPPO as MQA decoder and renderer.
With this setting, the signal pathway indicated by Roon is “lossless” for an authenticated 24 bit/192 kHz MQA file.
As stated before, I connect to the OPPO via wifi (i.e., wireless ethernet).
Now I read a comment from Roon support that the OPPO does not perform any MQA unfolding ‘in streaming mode’ and the recommended MQA setting in the Roon audio set up menu should be “off”.
Does the OPPO perform any unfolding in my setting? If not, is this inconsistent with the indicated “lossless” pathway?
Combined documentation from OPPO, MQA, and Roon is not really clear on this.
Promotional statement is that all three components are MQA compliant and one would expect to get full MQA benefit?
I appreciate there is more complexity to this, but….

Thank you,
Toni

Hello @Antonius_Schuh,

Unfortunately, due to the architecture of the OPPO streaming platform, it is not possible for their MQA decoder and renderer to function using its streaming inputs. If you use the Roon default settings for the device, which would be “No MQA Support” for the “MQA Capabilities” setting and “Enable MQA Core Decoder” in advanced settings, you will be realizing the best audio pathway for the OPPO UDP-205. With this configuration, Roon’s own MQA Core Decoder will engage when playing MQA content, allowing the OPPO to receive the high resolution 24/88.2 kHz or 24/96 kHz stream.
