Done, but it did not solve the problem. A completed search of Dead & Company returns the band, but with no discography. After setting the DNS on my Core/ROCK to 8.8.8.8, I saved the setting, and rebooted the Core. I then disconnected from TIDAL in Roon, reconnected, and forced a sync. Sadly, Roon still shows no Dead & Company albums for me.
Hey @Dean_Clough,
Thanks for giving that a try - and I’m sorry it didn’t help! We’ll be discussing your case with our development team tomorrow, I hope to have more information and next steps to share before the end of the week.
Excellent and thank you. Happy to assist on this end however I can. This is a very strange problem!
Hey @Dean_Clough,
While it’s clear you’re not able to see any Dead & Co albums, could you please share a specific album you’re experiencing the issue with? This will help our dev team further analyze our internal index mechanism and how it’s shaking hands with Tidal specifically - especially since Dead & Co are known for having many similar ‘objects’ in regards to live shows at similar venues.
We’re hoping this will help us better what might be going on. Thank you!
No problem. Here you are.
- Currently, I have not favorited a Dead & Company album in TIDAL, so their discography to me appears empty.
- I opened TIDAL, and favorited the Dead & Company album “Live at Citi Field, Queens, NY 6/21/23”
- In Roon, I forced a sync with TIDAL, and now in Roon, that same one album appears in Dead & Company’s discography - but only that album, not the dozens of others that are shown in TIDAL.
What shows on the Discography tab?
Sorry I should have clicked that tab so it’s obvious. The only thing that shows on the Discography tab is the one album favorited in TIDAL
Thanks. I’ll hand this back to @support. Does seem to me that your Server’s request to our discography service is not getting through somehow. Or else, the in-library button isn’t reflecting the correct status.
Thanks for the example @Dean_Clough, we’ll take this info to our development team for further insight.
In the meantime, and you have my apologies if I’ve glazed over this, but do you see this same issue no matter the remote device you use? I see you have an iPad as well as an Android - let me know if its the case across all remotes.
Thank you!
No problem. I have the same experience on Windows 11, MacOS, iOS, and Android.
Thanks for clarifying @Dean_Clough. We’ll have more specific suggestions shortly, but in the meantime:
If you create a new profile in Roon temporarily (on the same database and account, just add a new profile), do you see the correct behavior with this artist discography page there?
I created a new profile, and searched for Dead & Company. The discography only shows the album I’ve favorited in TIDAL, so it makes no difference.
Hey @Dean_Clough,
Thanks for the update - our development team took a closer look into the album example you’ve shared above, and saw that the the perfomerID linked to the album doesn’t look standard, and might have been edited manually.
Have you manually edited any of the ‘performer’ fields within the Artist’s metadata?
My apologies if I’ve glazed over this - but have you tried a completely fresh database to see if the same issue occurs? If not - make a fresh backup of your current database and lets test:
- Stop RoonServer from running in ROCK’s WebUI
- Navigate to your ROCK’s Database Location
- Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
- Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
- Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Roon database folder
- On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Roon Server” and connect to the new database
See if you run into the same issue before restoring your saved backup - open the fresh version of Roon and connect your Tidal account, and see if the same issue pops up.
Yes, I had edited the Artist:
But when I reverted all edits, and “Prefer Roon Data,” the problem remains.
I did as you suggested and did the new database, and it worked. Dead & Company’s discography appeared as it would be expected.
So reverting all edits and preferring Roon data for artist Dead & Company didn’t fix it, but starting from scratch did. What is Roon’s suggestion at this point?
Got it, thanks for the info @Dean_Clough!
Perhaps reverting the edits and performing a Tidal cache clear would do the trick - starting from scratch isn’t an actual option as I’m sure you’d like to keep your library and database settings.
After you revert your edits, try the following:
- Stop Roon Server from running in the Web UI
- Find and open your RoonServer database
- Navigate to
RoonServer/Cache
- Move the contents of the
/Cache
folder elsewhere, like your desktop - Try restarting Roon Server via the WebUI and verify if the issue still occurs
Thank you!
Hello, Benjamin - I cleared the cache folder as you suggested, and the problem remains. The only album shown in Dead & Company’s discography is the one I favorited in TIDAL.
And you are correct: starting over with no library and no database settings really doesn’t seem like an option. I don’t have the largest of collections but I have been with Roon for a number of years now, and starting from scratch is not appealing.
And the whole bug is not exactly the end of the world - but I’d imagine you guys want to figure it out, if only to ensure it doesn’t happen with other artists and/or other users. So thanks!
Thanks for the update @Dean_Clough - we’ve passed the issue back to development for further analysis. Thanks for your patience in the meantime!
Hi @Dean_Clough,
The most expedient way for developers to pin this down is for us to request a copy of your database - this will allow us to investigate the Discography failure with these Tidal objects in-situ with their history database edits contained.
At your convenience, please navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location, find the folder that says “RoonServer," zip (compress) the entire thing, and upload it here to our secure database collector: DB Collector
Thank you!
Sorry, I am clicking the DB Collector link and there is no obvious way to upload the .zip file? I see the folders other users have uploaded, but I don’t see an “Upload” button, only a “Download”.
After you did the above, have you removed the one album you favorited and then cleaned your library?
Search for Dead & Company and see if anything is different.
