No more access to my Roon Library via a NAS

Roon Core Machine Roon Server
Status : Running
Version : 2.0 (build 1311) production
QPKG-Version : 2023-03-07

Roon Core on Qnap TS-262 with 4 GB RAM including:

  1. Two internal hard disks, 16TB each, 60% full (operating in RAID-1)
  2. One 500 GB M.2 PCIe SSD

Networking Gear & Setup Details:

Unifi Dream Router, all devices connected through Ethernet cables

My NAS has been running for over 72 hours without a single failure.
Roon’s spinning wheel icon has stopped spinning (Waiting for Roon Core) and I can’t access my music library.

I’ve been using a NAS to run Roon for years, but I can’t access my music library since I installed a second hard disk as a backup (via Raid1).

However, the Roon Server (both application and database) are not on the hard disk, but in a 500 GB M.2 PCIe SSD.

However, I still can’t read it from my Library in the Roon application.

The Roon application initially manages to identify the NAS, but the NAS spins and spins, the NAS CPU being constantly used at 95 or 100% (almost exclusively by “RoonAppliance”) and the hard disk containing my library (10,000 albums, 177,000 songs) spins and spins without stopping.

What’s the problem? I have the same set-up / system in another house and it works perfectly

I suspect your NAS is rather busy reading the data from the single drive and mirroring it to the newly added drive. Can you access the NAS via its web interface and look at its resource use?

Hi @Alain_Grimard ,

Thanks for reaching out. Is the issue still happening at the present time or has there been any change in behavior? Can you use the Ambulance button to try to gather your Roon logs and upload them to the below link for review?

Please also note that your Roon Core does not meet the Minimum Requirements and you will likely run into performance issues, especially for a library of your size. You’d need at least a minimum of 8GB of RAM.
