Since 2022 I am very happy using a NUC 7i5BNH with 2,5“ SSD250GB , 8GB RAM and 500GB M2 SSD. But unfortunately I have heared Microsoft stoppped the NUC production. To avoid risk should I buy now a new one ? And which type should I buy ? Which is the best?
It was Intel who manufactured the NUC , they have “allowed” ASUS to carry on where they left off and they are doing so. So NUC’s will still be available
The only issue is that Roon have yet to release a compatibility chart with ROCK for the ASUS produced ones.
Coming Soon ???
Get a gen 13 asus nuc.
Asus NUC14 Pro + Ultra 9 works perfectly with ROCK. 96GB of DDR5 RAM.
I love it. More responsive than NUC13i7. It might be the increase from 64GB to 96GB RAM and the faster RAM but the extra threads is also going to help.
I run a big library 270k tracks on multiple zones.
I also have NUC11i7, NUC12i7, NUC13i7 and all run perfectly on Roon ROCK.
Well done Roon
Does everything work? All the USB interfaces and multi channel over HDMI? Historically I think that the HDMI audio has been the sticking point for full compatibility with the old 12th Gen (?) and higher NUCs but I think they fixed that recently. Also I think that anything over 16 or 32GB won’t be used by ROCK but I may be wrong.
From the ROCK article:
Roon supports HDMI functionality for the above NUC12+ models running RoonOS 1.0 Build 254 or later.
