Maybe I’m going senile, but I could swear that there used to be a separate list named New Releases when choosing Qobuz from Roon’s menu. Now I only see Grand Selection (which used to be the second list). And it most surely does not list recent releases. So, where did the New Releases go?
When I choose a specific filter, Grand Selection does show recent releases. I am at a loss. I tried refresh, rebooted my nucleus, all to no avail. TIA,
LEO
I see a new releases playlist under the Qobuz playlists tab. Also a hi-res new releases.
Are they not there for you?
Thanks, Doug, but that is not what I mean. I mean a list of new albums that should appear under the menu choice New Releases, not Playlists. It used to be there, right above Grand Selection.
Hmm… Only Qobuz grand selection, Press awards & Top albums on Qobuz are being shown here.
I’ve checked Tidal as well, and there New albums do show up.
Maybe it’s a temporary hickup at qobuz… Annoying, as it is a feature I often use.
In my experience, the Qobuz new releases has always been selective anyway. However, access Qobuz in Roon, select New Releases from 2nd line and then under Genre (2nd line, far right) select one genre only, then grand selection will show a number of most recent releases in that selected genre.
Hope that helps.
Possibly. As New Releases also don’t show up in Audirvana.
Yes, I noticed that too. It only fails when “all genres” is selected.
We will just have to wait, I guess. But at least we have a workaround now!
Ok, I understand. I find that when I use the Qobuz app on my desktop, there is a new releases section.
But if I click on “Show All New Releases” in the desktop app, I don’t see anything called “New Releases.” I only see Grand Selection and one other section.
Maybe it’s just an organization issue with Qobuz.
Yes, that section of the “New Releases” tab does seem to be missing. I used it a lot too. Hope either Roon or Qobuz can get it back again.
All is fine here, others where talking about this a few days ago but it’s been up here in UK.
Here is what I see in the New Releases section this is made of Qobuz Grand Selection, Press Awards and Top Albums this is how it’s always been.
Now the Qobuz app has been updated very recently and now doesn’t actually label the Qobuz Grand Selection anymore it’s just New Releases but it’s shows the exact same albums as Qobuz Grand Selection does.
Here it is in the Wiim app, this purely uses API so headings etc will change when API does.
This change of labelling won’t show up in Roon as it doesn’t work like that with Roon. Roons UI is pretty much hardcoded and populates only the data with api. They will have to update the whole UI to reflect the changes. This has happened with Tidal before and it can take months for Roon to update it.
This time of year Qobuz tend change up the new releases and mix it with all their recommended albums from the year as a promotion. The Qobuz app shows this and it is replicated in Roon for me at least under Qobuz Grand Selection. There are very few actual new releases the two Fridays either side of Christmas anyway.
I beg to differ. There ‘always’ was a separate category called New Releases above the category Grand Selection. Luckily, by excluding just one genre (say, ‘children’) Roon still serves up the most recent releases, albeit under the label Grand Selection.
Look at my grab it’s the same as it’s always been. Prior to Qobuz app updates there was a New Releases section of which Qobuz Grand Selection was part of it, this had curated new releases in it, it never was all releases from a given week. They rebranded the whole recently and their is no Grand Selection is just New Releases but it’s the same data just renamed and shows the exact same stuff as Qobuz and other apps using the API. Roon is still using the old layout as I already explained. This is how the Qobuz used to show it until recently.
Roon
We are having our wires crossed, I think. All I’m saying is that I used to be able to have all genres selected and that there was a category New or Recent Releases ABOVE Qobuz Grand Selection. I could click on More and see more recent releases. That layout has changed and I now have to deselect at least one genre to obtain the same result as before, only labelled differently. I don’t think this is an improvement.
Wasn’t the Grand Selection sorted by release date? I used to be able to browse all the releases for the week. Now there’s no apparent sort order. That’s not useful. Even in the Qobuz app the new releases lists albums that are almost a year old (some I noticed are from 2023). That’s not new. Even in the Qobuz app the new releases can’t be sorted. If anyone at Qobuz is listening, there needs to be a way to see the new releases for the week. Many of us look forward to Fridays so we can explore the new releases. How do we do that now?
No it’s never been able to sort it’s always been in date order. As explained this is Qobuz adding in all their albums of the year in this section, they did it last year as well. It will go back to normal once they stop promoting them. It’s confusing but there hasn’t been any new releases since the 20th. You can find them using the genre filter until they change it back to normal.
You are not senile. Every Friday its there. Stop 3 weeks ago in December. This really sucks. I am considering to look elsewhere. It is the best part of the site.
Go to Home, scroll past Recent Activity to New Releases for you, choose Albums or Singles, click More…Sort by Newest.
Its is still there, just enable the genre filters to be all except Children and you will see them. Not that there is many this week. This section has always been curated and never shows all of the releases and at moment the curation is to show the best of last year more than new releases. Its an odd choice but one Qobuz have done last two years.
