@David_Haaf, I merged today’s duplicate post with your earlier post. I understand your frustration, but it’s best to keep to one thread so as not to dilute support from the community and Roon staff. I am tagging @support for assistance.

Have you tried a USB connection from PC to the Marantz instead of the HDMI? Also, have you checked what Roon is reporting as the volume when playback occurs? I’m just wondering if it’s accidentally been forced to zero. I don’t know why this would happen, or even how! I suppose I’m grasping at straws. Hopefully @support can help.

Robert, thank you for combining my post. I did the 2nd post thinking something was wrong with the 1st one. It’s been 2 weeks without sound and not a word from Roon. Do you have any tips I can use to get a response from them?

Daniel, I tried the USB Cable and got the same result. Thank you for the sugestion. Regarding the volume I tried turning it up/down mute, off mute many times the past few weeks hoping it was stuck or something.

Roon is really buming me out. I have had a long rough go… moving from one problem to the next… I keep going as there some days when everything is working like a dream - truely awesome. I look forward to more of those days.

Can you confirm that you have firewall exceptions for roon.exe and raatserver.exe on your PC hosting your Roon Core? If you set your Core’s output to System Output (that is, the PC’s audio system), can you play music to the PC from Roon?

I’m still wondering if it’s a volume setting thing. Please can you post a screen shot of your device volume setting: Settings → Audio → Wheel for the output in question → Drop down menu “Device set up”.

Hi Guys,

Thank you for helping.

  1. THREE SCREEN SHOTS ABOVE
  2. Roon Core PC Firewall Exceptions set to ALLOW roon.exe AND raatserver.exe… In Roon I can find tracks, select them and play them. The clock time goes up AND the line on the sine wav moves from left to right BUT NO SOUND Comes Out

How do I get Roon staff to help?

Wild Guess - are your devices on the same subnet as the Core

What is the IP address of the core , your Z3 is showing 192.168.11.48 , the same sub net as the Marantz . Show Settings>General

The core may be 192.168.0.xxx ?

Are you getting sound out of the Core PC System Output

The Z3 looks like a video streamer ?

I suggest that you enable the Realtek High Definition Audio device - that is probably the HDMI connection to your Marantz that Roon will want to use.

I tried Realtek a number of times and just now. no luck. no sound

FYI the PC has been playing Amazon HD music many hours per day since Roon stoped. The PC is connected to the AV Processer via HDMI…Also before it stoped working it was playing through system output just fine for several years. I do not remember why I set it to system vs realtek

CORE: 192.168.11.66
PLAYER: 192.168.11.94
MARANTZ: 192.168.11.29

Z3 is a Roon Endpoint Streamer/PreAmp/Amp/Speaker (all in 1 box)

So the subnet is OK

Have you reinstalled the Realtek drivers, Windows Update have a tendency to screw them up ?

Have you tried altering the volume control to another option and seeing if it works? I once had a volume related problem that I sorted by simply switching from device volume to fixed volume, played it for a few moments, and then switched back to device volume. Again, grasping at straws.

@support - this was raised 15 days ago. I know that you’re busy, but it’ll be holiday season soon!

Hi @David_Haaf,

It sounds like there’s a possible setting to be changed in the Windows system mixer.

Click start and type mixer. When you open the volume mixer, what are our options for the output device? Can you try the other options to see if it changes your situation?

Thanks,
Wes

I changed the windows mixer setings one at a time with the same result.
Amazon, Qobuz, Windows Sound all work to The Marantz but Roon Does not :frowning:
I removed, downloaded and re-installed the realtek drivers… same result no sound from Roon.
Sound from everything else. I would say this is a roon problem.

Dear Roon Support: it’s been over 2 weeks without Roon… I would love to hear from you.

@support

Dear David Haaf, the post immediately before yours was from @Wes - who is a member of the Technical Support team at Roon Labs and is a Roon Staff member.

It’s curious that in your screenshot above, there is no entry for RAATServer in the list of apps - did you have Roon active at the time when you made the screenshot?

If it was, then I would expect to see in in the list something like this (this is the Windows 11 mixer - I think you are still using Windows 10, but the principle is the same):
