· No sound from connected amp Moon371. Was fine last week.

Tell us about your home network

· C4000XG (router); ethernet to Nucleus; wifi to remote(iPad) and simaudio's Moon371; sata (1TB) on Nucleus w/bkup to MacPro; all devices show on roon app; rescan flacs w/o issue; tried volume settings at fixed, device, DSP w/no result; SMB from mac to Nucleus shows all files. No sound from Moon.

Hello @karlkosydar ,

Thanks for letting us know. Just to confirm, the Moon still works when you use other sources to play to it outside of Roon? Is there any change in behavior if you perform a full power cycle on the Moon and the Nucleus? Can you check to see if the same behavior occurs when the Nucleus is not the Roon Server but another PC is hosting server duties?

Found the solution: Roon has this setting (buried) on the speaker icon of the track currently playing; w/in this setting is the double-reverse arrows or TRANSFER ZONE; from that I select the Moon 371 and then voila. I had no idea that was there. While we’re at it, what is the diff between ‘audio zone’ and ‘transfer zone’? And why would I transfer to the Nucleus? This is vexing but I thank you for your time. KK

Roon will find all the potential Roon end-points connected to your network. Go to Roon - Settings - Audio and you should see them. You can enable any you might want to use and then go into Device setup for each of them. The reason you will see the Nucleus is you could connect a DAC directly to the Nucleus if you wanted to.

Click on the Speaker ICON to switch your Roon output from one zone to another or play to multiple zones.

Hello @karlkosydar,

Thanks for the update — glad to hear you found the cause and that audio is playing again :+1:

To clarify your questions:

  • Audio Zone
An audio zone is simply an output destination in Roon (for example, your Moon 371, the Nucleus output, AirPlay devices, etc.). Roon can have multiple zones available at the same time.
  • Why the Nucleus appears as a zone
The Nucleus shows up because it can act as an audio output itself if a DAC is connected directly to it via USB, HDMI, or SPDIF. Even if you don’t use it that way, it will still be listed as a possible zone.

You can always manage which outputs are enabled under Roon → Settings → Audio, and the speaker icon is the quickest way to switch or transfer playback between zones.

Thanks for following up, and feel free to ask if anything else seems unclear — happy listening! :musical_notes:

„Transfer zone“ means that you can seamlessly move audio that plays on one audio zone to another zone.

Like if you have an audio system in the living room and a speaker in the kitchen, and you listen to music in the living room, you can transfer the music to the kitchen speaker when you go cooking.
