Description of Issue
I set the settings of the Bel Canto E1X DAC in Roon as follows.
DoP 1.0, MQA encoding/decoding, 24bit, 192K
Qobuz When playing a sound source of 96K or higher, only “chik~” noise occurs.
When playing a DSD64 sound source ripped from a SACD, music is played with sizzling noise.
When I select settings Convert DSD to PCM, it sounds fine.
I contacted the Bel Canto manufacturer about the problem, but they said it was not a problem with the product because the problem did not occur in the official support app SEEK.
That DAC is Roon Ready correct? Don’t use USB, try using Ethernet in. Just connect the DAC to the same switch the computer running Roon Core is connected to. Roon should auto recognize the DAC.
Yes, It’s Roon Ready. Roon automatically recognized this DAC.
I already tried with Ethernet and there was no problem with Ethernet.
I don’t know why the problem occurs with the USB connection.

This is the best option, and should be preferable to USB connected to a PC.
I had the same issue with SACD or DSD rips. I have different equipment than you, but I was able to eliminate the problem by taking off ‘volume leveling’ under zone settings. The DSD files will be much lower in volume than FLAC or anything else and you will have to adjust volume, but it will be worth it. No noise and just lovely DSD sounds. Hope this works for you…

That’s an 11-year-old computer. What version of OS X are you running? Is the Bel Canto set to exclusive mode?
Thanks for your patience while we work through each thread!
As a test, can you please test out using another computer as a remote device to test another USB port? And with that, can you also test out another USB cable?
Does this issue happen when streaming content outside of Roon? If you play the same files from the Qobuz web player, does the same issue happen?
Lastly, if you could share a sound snippet of the issue, that would be helpful as well.
Thanks for sharing the above info! Another follow-up test for you - can you temporarily disable the DSP you have applied, and see if the same issue occurs?
