New laptop, new Roon installation. I just downloaded and installed the latest Roon 64 package. I just have one PC, I want it to be the Roon core but also I want to play on it (it’s the only device I’ve got with a headphone jack for my wired headphones).
But I can’t get “this PC” to show up in the audio devices setup. The Core is working, and setup shows my other playback devices and I can send music to them; Roon Remote works great on the iPad (I can see the iPad as an audio device in the setup). But not the local PC.
This is a fairly new machine without much on it, so I don’t know about there being other audio programs interfering. But I did try Audirvana, could that have “stolen” my local PC audio device?
Really appreciate any suggestions. Note that I’m not an IT type…
@steve_williams1, welcome to the Community. A fellow user here, but can you post a screenshot of the Roon Settings → Audio tab and display what endpoints are visible to your Core? As you are seeing the iPad, it does not appear to be a Windows firewall issue, but seeing your endpint options may help assist you.
thanks, Robert_F. Note that the iPad is offline right now. Note also that the machine I’m wanting to play music on is the very same machine running the core.
Thanks. Just to make sure this is checked, do you have Windows firewall exceptions for roon.exe and raatserver.exe? Have you rebooted your laptop Core and restarted Roon?
If you are still running Audirvana then yes, Audirvana locks the system output.
Restart Audirvana, you will see a little PADLOCK icon Bottom Left click this off if it’s on . If not play a track , this will activate the lock, noe stop playback, unlock and exit Audirvana
It shouldn’t make any difference but try anyway
If all else fails, goto Task Manager Startup and disable Audirvana, then reboot
reboot solved the issue; during restart I was asked to authorize raatserver in the firewall. Now I see the laptop in the device setup, everything is working. Thanks to all for your advice!
