I have a mixture of Sonos, HifiBerry, and a few Macs with attached USB playback devices. The problems I will describe manifest on all of them.

Description Of Issue

So here’s a stumper. When I first open the Roon app, I can play whatever track I left the app in and I can do so in any zone. But if I then search for something else and attempt to play it, I do not see the waveform in the app and although the app indicates music is playing, I hear nothing. here’s an example of what is in the logs when this happens:

Once the app/server gets in this state, I cannot play any music in any zone. I am totally stumped. My setup has been rock solid for a long time and just gotten flaky to downright now usable in the last few months.

Thanks in advance!

Hello @Ian_Glazer, what’s the path from the QNAP to the router? Could you share the model of the router you’re using and anything else you have connected along the way? Also, does this happen if you play to system output of your mac?

The path from the qnap to the router is a direct hardwire. The router is a Unifi UDM Pro. The Mac is connected via a wifi access pointer which is also directly connected to the router.

One other thing that strange its that I cannot edit the Setup of any of my audio devices. When I attempted to go into the Device Setup screen the app (either on my mac or iphone) just spins. I tailed the log during this attempt and it doesn’t show anything.

I am starting to feel like I need to do a factory reset on the whole setup.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like all of this was derivative problem of QNAP’s bad ffmpeg version. My guess is a recent QNAP firmware update blasted the custom install of ffmpeg required to get RoonServer running. Looks like I am back in action!

Thanks!
