hi, does anyone know if the nova fidelity x40 is supported by roon?
According to the manual, it does not have Roon Ready capabilities built in. It also doesn’t have Chromecast or Airplay. So, you can’t use it via the network.
However, you can always plug a Roon capable streamer into a USB, Coax or Toslink port.
The X40 manual states that Shareplay is the same function as Apple ‘Airplay’. My X40 shows up under Other Network Devices as AirPlay capable and works fine with Roon, including displaying cover artwork and full album/artist/song info.
Note that AirPlay is limited to 16-bit audio resolution - I plug a Chromecast Audio dongle into the X40’s optical input to avoid the need to down-sample hi-res sources.
The X45 includes native Roon support.
