When I have the now playing screen displayed on the ipad and the ipad goes to sleep, every time I wake it again the screen is empty except for the control bar at the bottom. I have to click the bar to get the rest of the screen to show again.
Are others seeing this as well?
Do you mean the Queue screen? If so, then no, I can’t reproduce it here.

Yes the queue screen.
So after reading your reply I tried again with the same result. Then I tried completely quitting the app and restarting it, the issue is now gone!
Hope it stays this way.
