May 6th will mark the one year anniversary of Bill Holman’s passing. If you not familiar with the work of this West Coast jazz giant the fantastic recording shown below is a great place to start. Unfortunately this recording does not appear to be available for streaming, however both Tidal and Qobuz have several other wonderful Holman recordings available. So if you enjoy big band jazz featuring incredible arranging then give Bill Holman a listen.
And for some late period live Mingus there is this newly released concert from Argentina in 1977. Not sure of the availability on Tidal and Qobuz since it seems to have regional release issues, however if it available in your region then by all means give it a listen.
