Sometimes the line between jazz and other musical genres can be very blurry. Frank Sinatra was perhaps the master at blurring those lines and no more so than his classic 1950’s recordings for Capitol. Jazz, pop, show tunes, torch songs, etc. I don’t know but it’s all good and when it swings, boy does it SWING! As the saying goes, it’s Sinatra’s world and he just lets us live in it.

which blog?

One of the many “blogs” that list recordings available for download, along with the download links (which require a premium account with one of the many file sharing sites). These days I just use the sites to find recordings available on Tidal and/or Qobuz, especially new releases since Tidal and Qobuz only feature a tiny portion of the new releases for any given week.

I particularly enjoy the jazz at the pawnshop albums. So much so that when I was lucky enough to go on a work trip to Copenhagen I pounded the streets looking for the recording venue, sadly it’s in Stockholm. Good easily accessible and toe tapping music though.

If you like Jazz at the Pawnshop then I suggest that you have a listen to some of the American musicians who were there for the birth of the music found on Jazz at the Pawnshop.
This wonderful but hard to find recording features many of the masters of swing: Benny Carter, Teddy Wilson, Red Norvo, Freddie Green, George Duvivier, Louie Bellson
And all without the annoying sounds of glasses clinking.

Hi, thank you for the recommendation, I have managed to find a copy and am listening to it as I type.

Good call, thank you.

Thanks for heads up. I’ve been listening to it for several nights now.

Kind of a reverse ‘third stream’ genre offering.

Listened to the first two tracks on this a couple of weeks ago and was impressed. Now that the album has been released it doesn’t disappoint.

Theo Croker has been making electric, crossover, rap influenced albums. Just what Miles would have done in this day and age.
His forays give his interpretation of Miles some nice qualities. Good album
