Now Playing Some Jazz

MQA, partially rendered, sounds lovely, Micro Rendu → Quad VA-One+ → KEF LS50s (OG, not Meta).

I’m pretty sure that I posted this at least one time but a recording this good deserves a second post. Chris McGregor, late in his all too short life, was given a major label record deal and boy did he deliver! While “Country Cooking” may not be as adventurous as some of the other Brotherhood of Breath recordings, it sure is enjoyable. Country Cooking was released on CD but does not appear to be on either Tidal or Qobuz. Well worth seeking out.

In spite of her slick look, Ms. Han is the real deal and plays some mean jazz piano. Available on Tidal and Qobuz, along with the rest of her excellent releases.

A wonderful 1987 recording from trumpeter Ahmed Abdullah’s quartet. I like to call this kind of jazz, inside-out (or outside-in) jazz, which means a somewhat straight ahead sound but from a free jazz perspective. Available on both Tidal and Qobuz and worth checking out.

This wonderful new release is getting lots of hype and one listen easily tells you why - this recording lives up to the hype. Great modern jazz from some young players. The future of jazz is very bright! Available on Tidal and Qobuz, so what are you waiting for??

Odd, when you have a TT people think you want their old albums (some I do)… I became the owner of a Jackie Gleason album just this past weekend. I kept it because I’m old and I remember his show!

New release today by The Rookies, an excellent young jazz group from Australia. Available on Tidal
Jazz’s new generation is here and they’re doing just fine, thank you.

curious about this- does he play on the album, and if so, which instrument?
