For Roon connectivity to work properly, both Roon Server and Roon Remote need to be turned on.
· I can't turn on Roon Server, I need help.
Describe the issue
I disconnected my server yesterday around 6pm an after this- i only submitted files on my external ssd - my Nuc Server is not running anymore. i restart it via my Fritz!box. But no chance
Thank you for reaching out and providing the screenshot. I can see from the interface that the Roon Server Software is currently showing as “Not running” (Läuft nicht).
Please try clicking the Start button under the Roon Server Software section.
If the server fails to start after clicking that button, proceed with reinstalling the operating system directly from this Web UI:
Click the Neuinstallation (Reinstall) button under the Betriebssystem section.
Allow the process to complete and the system to reboot.
This reinstallation process will only refresh the Roon OS system files. It is completely safe and will not touch or delete your Roon database, settings, or stored music files.
If the Roon Server software still does not start after the OS reinstallation finishes, please reply to this thread so we can investigate further.
The “exitcode 43” error indicates that the current operating system partition is corrupted or cannot process the system update package locally. To resolve this, you will need to perform a full manual reinstallation of Roon OS using a USB flash drive.
Just like the Web UI reinstall, this USB flash process is designed to only overwrite the Roon OS system files, leaving your database and SSD music files intact. However, to be absolutely safe, I highly recommend verifying your backups before proceeding.
Since your server is currently not running, you cannot trigger a standard backup from the Roon remote app. If you do not have a recent backup saved somewhere other than the NUC, you can manually secure your database over your network:
Connect to your NUC’s data share from your computer (using \ROCK\Data on Windows or smb://ROCK/Data on Mac).
Copy the entire RoonServer folder and save it to your local computer’s hard drive.
You will need to download the factory reset image, flash it to a USB drive using a tool like BalenaEtcher, and boot your NUC from that USB drive to complete the installation.
Let me know if you run into any issues during the backup or flashing process.
