Nucleus and Internal Storage

Hi,
I just received my nice new Nucleus One.
I have dragged and dropped lots of music to the harddrive, (I bought 4 TB one.)
The total size is just over 2Tb of music dragged. But if I look at roon it says,
Internal Music Storage

Format

OK

4000GB, Samsung SSD 870 93% of 3696 GB available.
Have I done something wrong?
I dragged from music files on PC into Roon Albums, and it all seemed to work.
Is there a way to know how much hard drive is used?
Sorry if sounds daft but, I cant understand.

I think I have nothing new on internal??? I want all my files on the internal. What have I done wrong?

Sure, just remember the following.
The Nucleus will be in Network/Data/Storage/InternalStorage.
Make sure you are in your Browser, click on Roon to access the Roon screen. Just remember you won’t be able to see your Roon Data that you added, unless you are in your Browser and Roon at the same time, then you can see InternalStorage.

I think maybe what I done wrong is tried to move entire folders to albums?
Would that be why?
EDIT.
I tried again, dragging from file explorer in windows to Albums in Roon. Seemed to be working then said complete at about 400 albums. It is still spinning saying adding, but stuck :frowning:
Please help. I have been doing this for almost 24 hours. How do I get my files to the internal ssd?

I looked in Network but dont have Data Storage in that folder :frowning:

Can you post a screenshot of Windows File Explorer showing where you are putting your albums? For example:

As has been said, you should be putting your album folders into \\Nucleusone\Data\Storage\InternalStorage and nowhere else.

Thankyou so much !!
I was dragging/drop from file explorer to Roon, My Albums.
That made a folder called the name of my computer “computer”, in Nucleus hard drive.
But using the path you gave it seems to work, and way better.
Hopefully this is solved
I was going to gice up and return it, but now I think I am happy.
Thanks again

If I were you, I would delete any folders that you have accidentally created in the wrong place to free up space on the m.2 SSD in your Nucleus One. That SSD is for the Roon OS and Roon Server software only…

I did , delete the files that I had in the “computer folder in there”.
Initially I did what it said was “recommended”,

recommended was a bad idea , so it’s option 2
The whole thing will take about 4 Hours now !
The layout , as if its a backup.

The recommended way is crazy!!!

Actually, that’s OK; dragging and dropping onto the Roon screen will work. I thought that you had manually used File Explorer to copy files to the Nucleus One displayed inside File Explorer.

Dragging , dropping into roon screen didnt work though. It took hours and created a folder called computer. Then it just stopped working. I even formatted the hard drive again , the second time doing individual albums instead of folder with lots of albums. It Stopped itself again !
The second method is perfect. Just make a shortcut on desktop and copy.
The second time if you click the spinning circle in my albums roon it showed it was still copying but said it was complete???
It hardly did anything.
If it should work it didnt for me.
What it did copy showed up in my Albums though, weird.

It’s intended for importing a small number of albums at a time - not bulk imports.

So when you’ve purchased a download or two, or ripped a few albums, then it’s the easiest way to get them imported. I do it occasionally…

Fair enough.
But surely, given that when you buy a Nucleus and want an internal drive, you would expect a sizeable amount of files to transfer, and therefore recommended should be option 2>
I really am glad you told me that though, I was all ready to return it after only having it for 24 hours.
So thanks again Geoff and have a most excellent Christmas

Sorry someone else had to help you. I have the original Nucleus Rev A. I did not know that different models have different names in the file structure. Mine just says Nucleus, didn’t think Nucleusone was required, otherwise I would have done that.

Thanks to you to.
Any genuine help is appreciated :slightly_smiling_face:
I have almost finished copying all the files now.
Still feel aggreived that the recommendation was to drag from explorer too my albums in roon.
