Cannot access WebUI using “Configure Roon OS Devices…” all I get is “Searching for Roon OS Servers…” for hours. Don’t know any other way to get to WebUI
Other easy ways to access the Nucleus Web Interface can also be accessed by:
Typing in the IP Address of the RoonOS Device in a Web Browser
Typing the hostname of the device, for example: http://rock , http://nucleus , http://nucleusplus , http://nucleustitan or http://nucleusone
Typing the .local suffix for the device, for example: http://rock.local , http://nucleus.local , http://nucleusplus.local , http://nucleustitan.local , or http://nucleusone.local
Thank you, got there. Hit “Configure” and get the same response “Searching…” but does not find.
I found this in your logs.

It looks like the token you got when you signed in got expired somehow. Can you try signing out and then signing back in?
I can’t do anything on Roon. The thing just doesn’t work.
Hello @Dennis_Kaniger ,
I wanted to check in with you here, it doesn’t look like your Nucleus is online at the moment, have you been able to perform any checks on it? Does it still have the power light illuminating? Are you able to see the Ethernet lights on the back flash with activity?
I am on the road just now so the Nucleus is not available. But this lap top has all my music, Roon and was the Roon server. I would like to move all that to the Nucleus, but for two weeks now when opening Roon it says “Waiting for Roon server” or “Connecting to Roon Server” in red and never connects. Or …it is taking unusually long to connect to… I cannot access Roon either on this machine nor online.
Hi @Dennis_Kaniger,
Let us know when your back home or able to continue troubleshooting, and if you’re able to access the webUI when the Nucleus is powered on and connected to your network.
Thank you!
I’m back. Roon is installed on this machine, the machine I am typing from. All music is on this machine. This machine has in the past been the Roon Server. Nucleus is not powered on. On the the Web, I get the page that says “You are already signed in”… Opening the Roon app on this machine it says the same. Where do I go from here? My thought- delete the current Roon app, download and install a new one and start over.
@Suedkiez I do not know 1. which RoonOS Device to type web address. 2. I do not know which is host nor 3. . local suffix. I do not know about any of that stuff. I know how to turn a light switch on and I can brew a cup of coffee.
So I unauthorized Nucleus and the Roon app is functional on this computer. Nucleus is not powered on but is connected by ethernet to my network. It has been reformatted so should be in original condition. This machine is the server. There is an iPad on the network that has Roon ARC installed that I would like to use as the remote control. I would like to take all my music, migrate it to the Nucleus and make it the server. I would like to add all new music to the Nucleus and not use this machine (laptop) any longer for streaming music.
To this point I have seen many different road maps with lots of variables of how to accomplish the above. Step by step, now that I have a clean music library, how do I proceed? Thank you.
You don’t use Roon ARC as remote control. Install the Roon app on your iPad to use as a Roon client. Start up the Roon Nucleus. Authorize the Roon Nucleus as your active Roon server and unauthorize your computer as the active Roon server. You can still use the computer as a Roon client in addition to the iPad.
Copy your music files from wherever they are to your “watched” folder as seen by your Roon Nucleus. Or, leave the music files wherever they are and make that your “watched” folder on the Nucleus.
Just try http://nucleusone/ in a web browser

Hi @Dennis_Kaniger,
I completely understand where you’re coming from, and what you’re hoping to achieve. I do want to note, that it might be worthwhile to better familiarize yourself with the Roon architecture, as well as become more familiar with your own local network as well.
Before doing anything Nucleus related - do you have a recently saved backup of your current Roon database? If not, please head to Roon Settings>Backup and perform a backup (or a few) for safe keeping.
Then, before considering migrating your library, I would focus on getting proper access to your Nucleus, and ensuring you have a smooth operation with this setup before anything else.
As @Jim_F mentioned:
Boot up the Nucleus and keep it hardwired to your router. Then, open Roon on your computer like you normally would, but this time head into Roon Settings>General> and click ‘X Disconnect’
This screen should prompt you to select your new Nucleus to run as your Roon Server. Once you do this, you can also connect your Qobuz/Tidal/KKBox accounts to get some instant access to your music.
Once you do this, follow up here and we’ll tackle the next steps.
Thank you, yes, this is a helpful article and I once again have access to Roon.
@Jim_F Done- clean back-up, Nucleus is booted and is server, Tidal and Qobuz exist. Progress. Next?
Hi @Dennis_Kaniger,
Ok! Glad to the RoonServer is up and running.
At this point, the length of the thread is interfering with our ability to precisely or efficiently troubleshoot this issue.
Please summarize your exact problem as it currently stands. We’ll proceed from there.
The following is what I have completed. I am currently waiting for Jim_F to reply:

Nucleus Migration Guide > Step 2: Restore your data base> at log in> Restore a Backup> Add network share> at this step typing in or copy/paste Network share location only yields, in a red box, There was an unexpected error: UnexpectedError.
If I skip to Step 3: Configuration> I. Go to Settings> Storage and … Is Nucleus the Server or the MacBook?
It is this part I cannot manage to do. (Lastly, it’s time to copy, not move, your music flac files to a location that will be your watched folder on your Nucleus. Usually, this would be an SSD that your have installed inside the Roon Nucleus. Make this drive and/or folder your watched folder on your Nucleus.) The only way I can figure now is to copy them onto a Flash drive and plug that into the Nucleus.
It’s essentially the same except the file managing program is Finder instead of File Explorer
@Dennis_Kaniger It’s explained here, the „SMB connection (alternate option)“:
