Description of Issue

I noticed that my RonnServer is very slow sometimes. Today I copied a new album to the internal drive and the track analysis took 90s per track. Normally it is a fraction of a second. Could be the database is corrupt. If someone wants to take a look at it be my guest.
I saw a lot of traces like these here

Hi @Michael_Thomas2 ,

Thanks for letting us know. That doesn’t look like typical corruption traces, but it does look like something is going on with the database. Can you please use these instructions to upload your database to the link below and let us know here once uploaded? Thank you.

Hey @Michael_Thomas2,

Thanks for sending those over! Our team was able to analyze further, and can confirm that both drives are healthy and have plenty of free space, and there are no disk, SMART, or thermal errors in the syslog. The hardware checks out cleanly.

With that, the logs contain no evidence of database corruption and no evidence of a hardware fault.

Let’s see if any of the below help:

Before anything else, I’d access the webUI of your Nucleus and perform a full machine reboot. See how things perform afterward.

Then: Settings → Library → Background Audio Analysis Speed, if it’s set to “Fast” or “Throttled (all cores),” drop it to “Throttled (1 core)” or “Normal,” then re-import a test album. If times become slow-but-consistent, you’ve confirmed it’s CPU contention rather than anything broken.

Does the Nucleus have clear airflow around the chassis (it dissipates through the case), isn’t stacked under other gear, and isn’t in a closed cabinet?

Thank you! :folded_hands:

Hi @Michael_Thomas2,

We’re currently testing some performance and search improvements in the Early Access category that might help improve the symptom you’ve reported. Builds 1663 - 1668 target performance specifically. The improvements are included in the latest release, 1668, but here are the release notes for these improvements, specifically:

If you’d like to migrate to Early Access, you can follow these instructions to move your server and remote over to the testing track:

These changes will eventually be released in a Roon public update, so you can hang tight until then if you don’t want to migrate.
