Describe the issue
Nucelus disappeared from the network, cannot acmes it and is not visible to roon app neither on web access. Lamps a lit on the back but no effect several power off on. this is model i3 from 2022, worked perfectly until yesterday
Looking at the photograph, I see what looks to be a link light on on the Ethernet port but I don’t see the activity light on. It would thus appear that the Ethernet port is working - the lack of an activity light could just be down to the timing of the photograph.
What do you see if you attach a TV or monitor to one of the the HDMI ports?
If everything is working, it should report an ip address which should be within the same subnet as your controlling device and the router on the LAN side (the ip address that is set at the gateway on connected computers and devices. Typically the first three numbers of the ip address should be the same on all three devices and also usually starting with ‘192.168.’.
If there is a fault with the networking connection, then you may see an ip address starting with 169. This typically means that the connection to your router was broken such that the router did not see, or could not respond to, the DHCP request for an ip address that is made by the Nuclues on power on. This could be a fault with the Ethernet port of the Nucleus, a fault with the Ethernet port on the router (or intermediate switches) to which it is connected or it could just be that some network cable connection is poor and needs either the connectors to be removed and re-seated at one end or another or, possibly, a replacement Ethernet cable.
If there is a different, more general, fault with the Nucleus, there may be other information on the screen that will help you understand what the issue is. There are a number of possible issues ranging from a complete failure of the Nucleus main board (hopefully not) to a faulty OS SSD in the Nucleus or even just a file corruption.
Posting a photograph of what you see on the TV/Monitor display would be useful.
Thanks for reaching out. As @Wade_Oram mentioned, seeing the HDMI output from the device when it is in this state can be very helpful diagnostic tool. If you have not yet tried a different Ethernet cable, this may also be a good test, as Ethernet cables do sometimes go faulty. One other suggestion here is that you can try to use a Linux-compatible USB → Ethernet adapter in case the Ethernet port itself is having issues. Let us know how testing goes!
I have connected the TV and there was nothing on the screen-
i have checked the local ports on the Airport with the mac and they worked, with same cable
then i switched again off and on and the Nucleus booted and works now !!!
no clue what was it
maybe i just did not press the on switch before properly…
but there was initial failure, how it started for which no idea, is there a log i can look into , it was roughly 24 hrs before?
