Roon shows the Nucleus as an external device, and not my main stereo, which is connected to the network. I have powered the hub off, and restarted Roon and the Nucleus and the missing external device, but no luck. I have tried to find the Nucleus software on my laptop to force a restart, but I am unable to find it.
Describe your network setup
ATT BG320-500 Gateway, Zyxel GS 1900 10HP switch, hard wired to external Anthem processor (which initally appeared in the Roon Ready list, but after a reboot, now does not) and the Mola Mola dac, which does appear as a Roon Ready device.
From our end, it looks like your Roon Server is currently running on your Windows machine, not on the Nucleus. This would explain why you see the Nucleus listed as an external device instead of as your main Core.
Please try the following steps:
On your Windows machine, open Roon → Settings → General.
Under “Connected to Core”, click “Disconnect”.
On the next screen, you should see both your Windows Core and your Nucleus listed.
Select the Nucleus to connect to it as your main Core.
Once you’re connected to the Nucleus Core, your audio devices should appear normally again.
If you don’t see the Nucleus listed, please confirm the Nucleus’ IP address from your router and share it here, so we can help you verify the connection
Performed suggested change, and rebooted. Nucleus still appears as a connected device, and when selected, there is no output. Nucleus also appears as Roon Server. My Anthem home theater processor now no longer appears, but the other two connected devices operate correctly.
What device specifically are you referring to here?
I’d simplify your network temporarily here - get your Nucleus hardwired via Ethernet directly to your primary router, along with the issue endpoint / device you’re having trouble connecting to.
Let me know if you experience the same issues in this simplified setup. If you do, please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader? Once logs have been uploaded, please let us know so that we can check the server for your files, thanks!
Your advice-
I’d simplify your network temporarily here -
get your Nucleus hardwired via Ethernet directly to your primary router (this is the original setup)
along with the issue endpoint / device you’re having trouble connecting to. (also the original setup).
I will power the Anthem Roon Ready device off and on to see if this helps.
Based on our device database, both the Anthem MRX 1140 and Anthem AVM 70 are Roon Ready devices and support RAAT via a LAN (Ethernet) connection.
Could you please confirm that your Anthem units are connected to your network via Ethernet, and that you are selecting the Roon Ready input on the device — rather than using USB, HDMI, or AirPlay?
Would you kindly provide us with the screenshot from the Roon → Settings → General and Settings → Audio?
Once confirmed, we can proceed with the next steps.
Thank you for the screenshot. It confirms that Roon isn’t currently seeing the Anthem device on the network.
Since both the Nucleus and the Anthem are meant to communicate over your local network, the next step is to verify that the Anthem is actually visible at the network level.
Could you please share a screenshot of your router’s device list (LAN / DHCP client list) showing all connected devices?
This will let us confirm whether the Anthem is receiving an IP address and is on the same subnet as the Nucleus.
Once we have that, we can proceed with the correct next steps.
