Nucleus One not accessible through browser on MacOS Tahoe (ref#VS8TI6)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Nucleus One (working fine) isn't visible at reported network address on MacOS Tahoe in brower.
(But is visible in Network tab in Finder.)

Roon (app) and Nucleus One (ethernet wired to the router) are working fine.
Looking for the Nucleus One Web Admin page, I got its address from Roon : Settings : Setup : Find Roon OS : Find (button)
196.168.2.67
Entering this (http://192.168.2.67) in browser URL bar, complains it can't connect. This is new.
The only new thing on my Macbook is MacOS Tahoe.

The issue is very likely caused by Tahoe.
Just wanted you to know about it.

Roon things here are working fine.

Hello @John_Gibson1 ,

Thanks for reaching out. It is odd that the Roon app is working as expected but the WebUI is not. I am looking over diagnostics for your account and it doesn’t look like the Nucleus is showing up on our end either. Have you tried to reboot the Nucleus/Networking gear and it has the same behavior after? If you’re able to, please access your Nucleus logs by using these instructions and upload them to the link below. Thanks!

Log file has been uploaded.

This morning I have:

  • restarted the router
  • restarted the Mac
  • rebooted the Nicleus One

Behaviour seems unchanged.

Strangely, this morning I could connect to this on my phone:
https://192.168.2.67
but now it fails.

http://192.168.2.67/
works again as of yesterday from my phone.
But continues to fail from my Mac.

Hi @John_Gibson1,

If you haven’t already, please ensure that MacOS has granted Roon local network access (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network).

Let us know if that doesn’t help and we’ll proceed with more granular network troubleshooting in the MacOS network settings.

Thank you for your patience.

Confirming that in System Settings : Privacy & Security : Local Network: the Roon app is enabled.

This is true on both Macs we have here, one running Sequoia and the other using Tahoe.

On bothh of those machine, attempting to access the Web Admin interface for Nucleus One fails.

Yet, both of our iphones ARE able to connect to:
http://192.168.2.67

cheers

Further to your query about Local Network access for Roon, I noticed that my browser (Zen), did not have access.
After granting local network access to Zen, it can now see the Web Admin interface for Nucleus One.

… and as of today, http://192.168.2.67 fails again.
I guess more investigating is needed.

Hello @John_Gibson1,

Thank you for the additional details — this helps clarify the situation.

Based on your findings, the behavior points to macOS local network permissions at the browser level, rather than an issue with Nucleus or Roon OS. Since access to the Web Administration page works from iPhones and intermittently from the Mac depending on browser permissions, this indicates that macOS is restricting or revoking local network access for the browser itself.

At this point, further investigation would need to focus on the browser (Zen) and how it handles macOS Local Network permissions on Tahoe. We’d recommend reaching out to the Zen browser support team to understand why local network access is being lost after it has been granted.

Since Roon and Nucleus functionality are otherwise operating normally, there’s no additional action required on the Roon side at this time.

Agreed.
Let’s call this solved.
