I don’t have a Mac and no knowledge in the field.
If Wifi was not explicitly disabled, could it be that the Mac can use an address from this address range despite having an Ethernet connection?
Theoretically, but I don’t think it would be the default. The order can be configured, would be best to check:
Hello all, I have been busy but talking with my brother who is an it guy and he is saying might be 2 networks in play. One from an earlier computer and a newer network and also an access connection might be an option to connect to the nighthawk if nothing else works. I will be trying different things and let you know if I find out anything. I installed a back up from an older Mac Pro and updated the router and modem and had difficulties getting my Sonos to work in the past so it is possible 2 networks are trying to control the Sonos WiFi and Mac mini WiFi connections to Sonos and other speakers through WiFi. Plus the older modem and router were in bridge mode making only one network available where as now there is one for the router and one for the modem. I will be contacting my isp and see what they say about previous networks making their spirits known causing bugs if you will. I will also check the Mac mini network and my modem connections and WiFi settings in the nighthawk as well. Anything else anyone can think of or possible issues please let me know. The cox modem I have does not have 4 inputs. Just an Ethernet and cable in.Thank you, Chris Peterson
@chrispy90
Who connected the cox modem for you and set up the network, was it you yourself?
If someone else did it, you may want to ask that person for help.
We told you this seven days ago, and we’ve also given you the solution: put the Cox modem/router into bridge mode so that you have a single network in your home. If your brother is an IT guy, can he do this for you?
Hi @chrispy90,
Let us know if @Geoff_Coupe’s note above helps your issue! We’ll be on standby for your results.
Hello all, Just to let you know I put the cox box in bridge mode and the modem slowed to barely moving and nothing working so I got a new modem and new network and guess what? Nothing on the Nucleus works with anything as usual. For everybody knowing everything weird how nothing is fixed and nothing working and I have paid for service and a Nucleus and a Samsung internal drive and a back up drive and nothing works and I am out over a thousand dollars and so frustrated that I have to listen to music off of my iPhone and sometimes through my digital to analog converter. What a complete joke. Thanks for nothing and a waste of space fixture that just looks good on my little table. So please be a little nicer in your replies Geoff because you just might be wrong and you are in this case. Would be nice if anyone knew anything about fixing and getting anything with music servers functioning properly. Been over a month and I have spent so many hours trying to figure out what is wrong and I don’t have the patience or time to invest in wishful thinking and no knowledge of a so called easy to connect. No network experience required. That is a lie and a half. I am done with try this or this. If you think you know how to fix it you don’t. Nobody got it right as you got my money and I have nothing but debt and stress of trying to problem solve something that should have been a easy fix. If I sound frustrated you don’t know what stress is until you try to deal with this nightmare. No email or communication from support either. Nobody cares and nobody seems to be very knowledgeable or concrete solutions to any problem. Very sad for Harman putting money into a failing idea and no number in the United States for customer support just a email for support that has not responded or emailed back in almost 2 weeks. The future of music is upon us and it doesn’t look very good. So many problems and so much miscommunication seems to be the way of the world. I should have known better believing if it sounds to good to be true it almost always is.Thank you for all this added stress. Would have been nice to enjoy the best of the best in higher resolution audio but that does not seem possible. Just a dream or nightmare in my case. Chris Peterson
I understand your frustration, but please remember that Geoff is just a user like you who volunteers to help you (or attempts to).
Feel free to indicate you don’t want random users to chime in to assist you. It’s perfectly ok to state you only want official support (which I admit is lacking).
Hello, I guess it all comes down to I have done everything software related, network related and the only odd item is the Nucleus hardware not working properly. Software is fine because in the Mac mini it shows everything functioning properly and the Mac mini with Roon loads audio fine so it is obviously a hardware major issue. Question now is how is Roon going to make a wrong a right. I am waiting for the correct response. You took my money now please give me what I paid for. A working piece of electronics is all I want. Thank you, Chris Peterson
Hello all, So I have Roon and Roon Bridge running on the Mac Mini. I have Roon and Roon Arc on the phone. Any chance apps could cause the Nucleus One to not connect. Otherwise I do not know what the problem would be because no matter what the N1 does not show any audio sources through air play or WiFi. Any one have any ideas. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Hello all, Another thing I notice is my Astell and Kern shows up under hdmi audio when it is plugged into usb. Not sure what that means as well. Thank you. Chris Peterson
Hello Benjamin, Nucleus still not working with new modem and router put in bridge mode and phone still doing the non stop searching for server. Pretty sure every option has been tried and N1 is still the non working element in the mix. I would appreciate resolving this issue as soon as possible. Thank you, Chris Peterson
Hello all, I have been reading and everything points to something network related. Have tried everything I can think of. Google AI said try network something or other on Mac Mini so I have a tech from my isp coming by on Friday so hopefully we can figure it out or at least get something working with the N1. Can someone from Roon please reply as if this does not work I am needing some help on how to get a N1 that does work. Thank you, Chris Peterson
Hi @chrispy90,
Our records show that your Nucleus was seen 5 days ago so I don’t think the Nucleus itself is broken. But it didn’t seem to have an IP address assigned to it. If you have IPv6 enabled on your router try disabling that and using IPv4 instead. Hopefully the tech from your ISP will be able to assist as well. We will be standing by to hear the results of the tech’s visit.
Helll Daniel, Thank you for your communication. I am finding that networking is very stressful. I have been doing a lot of reading and have found that some older networks I used to have were still in play and I put my cox box and net gear night hawk in bridge mode and my internet came to a stand still and was very slow so my isp suggested a new faster cox box. Upon researching when I got the new cox box it had switched out of bridge mode and the vicious networks fighting over which network does what begins. Hopefully everything will be worked out on Friday as my isp is coming over to check cables and connections and find if everything is working properly which it is not. You mentioned switching ip addresses on my phone how would I do that? New to all this but I am learning and not nearly as frustrated with everything because I see what is going on now versus not knowing what is going on. Thank you again for your help. Chris Peterson
@chrispy90
I’m pleased that you seem to be on the right track and a solution is emerging. You’re not alone, some of us had to deal with similar problems. So things are looking better now and having learned something new is advantageous.
If you have many networks in play, you can use your phone to check available Wi-Fi networks and try connecting your iPhone to a different one.
I will look for a guide for you.

Make sure Private Network is disabled on your phone.
Passwords and names for different networks coming from different devices can usually be found on a sticker under or on the side of the router.
When setting up a network, it’s a good idea to make notes about names, passwords and associated devices. So you can always check which network your phone is connected to and which device it belongs to.
It is mandatory that Nucleus, all speakers, streamers, players and your remotes, your iPhone, are on the same network. Otherwise the devices can’t see each other and nothing works.
As an experiment, you can also briefly unplug a device, not the Cox Box!, and check whether and which network disappears as a result. So you can identify who it comes from.
Good luck.
Hello Axel, Thank you for your help. Everything is coming together and I can’t wait to get some music playing through my car play and Sonos. Does anyone know what apps I should have on my phone and what works with what on my Mac mini. I have Roon and Roon arc on my phone also the tailwind vpn if I have issues with arc and port not working. I have Roon on the Mac mini and Roon bridge and will be putting Mac mini on as a remote and my phone as a remote. Anything else to get best functioning system would be much appreciated. Again I appreciate everyone’s help. Thank you, Chris Peterson
