· Good morning. I have recently purchased a nucleus one to replace my aging Xen mini mk 1! It all jyst worked until recently update. All is good with streaming tidal and I set up the old zen as a nas so my ripped cds play fine for that. However I bought ssd card and have carefully installed this in the N one. I previously backed up the library to the new drive pre install. The N 1 doesn't see the drive despite a couple of re boots.
Have you first formatted the SSD drive using the Web Administration Interface of the Nucleus One? See:
You MUST first format the drive - you cannot put your local files onto it first and then install it into the Nucleus One - it won’t show up as your screenshot clearly shows.
Thanks Geoff. Successfully formatted. Took a bit of fiddling to find the WAI but got there eventually. Is there an easy way to transfer the library on the Zen onto the new ssd hd now installed in the N 1 over network?
That is great news! I’m glad Geoff was able to point you in the right direction and that you got the SSD formatted through the Web Administration Interface. Now that Roon OS owns that drive, it will act as a lightning-fast, silent local storage hub.
To answer your question: Yes, absolutely! Since both your old Innuos Zen Mini Mk1 and your new Nucleus One support the standard SMB (Server Message Block) network file-sharing protocol, you can use a computer (Mac or Windows) as a “bridge” to copy your music folders directly across your network.
Here is the easiest way to handle the network transfer:
Step 1: Open the Old Zen Mini Storage
The Innuos Zen Mini automatically exposes its storage to your local network.
If you are on a Mac: Open Finder, click Go in the top menu bar, and select Connect to Server… (or press Command + K). Type smb://zenmini and hit connect. If prompted for credentials, select Guest (or use Username: guest / Password: innuos).
If you are on Windows: Open File Explorer, click the address bar at the top, type \\zenmini, and press Enter. If prompted, log in with Username: guest and Password: innuos.
You will see a few shared folders pop up. Your ripped CDs are located in the folder named Music .
Step 2: Open your New Nucleus One Storage
Now, open a second separate File Explorer or Finder window on that same computer so you can access the empty SSD inside your Nucleus One.
On Mac: Press Command + K again, and type smb://nucleusone/Data (or use the Nucleus One’s IP address, e.g., smb://192.168.1.X/Data). Connect as Guest (use guest for both username and password if prompted).
On Windows: In the File Explorer address bar, type \\nucleusone\Data and hit Enter. Log in with Username: guest and Password: guest.
Once inside, open the folders: Storage > InternalStorage. This is your newly formatted SSD.
Now that you have both storage windows open side by side:
Select the music folders/artists inside the Zen Mini’s Music share.
Drag and drop (or copy and paste) them straight into the Nucleus One’s InternalStorage folder.
Because this transfer happens completely over your network cables, your computer will manage the copy process. Depending on how many gigabytes of ripped CDs you have, it might take a little while to finish.
Hi Vadim. Thanks for that detailed reply!! I’m nearly there i think. Im at 2% only 6500 tracks to go. I’ve highlit all the artist file icons and copying these into internalstorage folder direct. Will pop hd in box when definitely all working. Just say the N1 has made such a difference. Will confirm tomorrow that all is good. Zen mi I can then just be my backup. Atb and thanks again. Hugh
