Tell us what's going on

· My room nucleus. One was working fine. Now it does not work. I’ve done power cycle, network cycling. The unit is spinning, making noise like a fan. It does power on. I cannot find it on my app and I can’t solve the problem with your troubleshooting. Please have somebody get in touch with me.

Hello @Steve_Dailey,

I am sorry to hear your Nucleus One has become unresponsive. Looking at the photo you provided, there are a few important observations that might help us pinpoint why it isn’t showing up on your network.

1. Check the Ethernet Port

I noticed that the Ethernet port on your Nucleus One has two solid red/orange lights.

  • On most network devices,in some cases, it can indicate a link error or a lack of proper handshake with the router.
  • Action: Please try swapping the Ethernet cable with a different one, and try plugging it into a different port on your router or switch. Ensure the cable is “clicked” all the way in.

2. HDMI Diagnostic Test

The best way to see what is happening “under the hood” is to connect a display.

  • Please connect an HDMI cable from the Nucleus One to a TV or monitor.
  • Once connected, power cycle the unit (unplug power, wait 10 seconds, plug back in).
  • Watch the TV screen. Does it show a Roon logo, a black screen, or any text errors (like “No Boot Device Found”)?
  • If you see the Roon OS screen, it will usually display the current IP address. Does it show an IP address starting with 192.168.x.x or 169.254.x.x? (If it starts with 169.254, the unit is not receiving an IP address from your router).

Please try the HDMI test and let us know what appears on your screen. This will tell us immediately if the operating system is booting correctly or if there is a hardware failure.

Hello @Steve_Dailey,

Just checking in on this. Were you able to try the Ethernet cable swap and different router or switch port we mentioned, and also connect the Nucleus One to a TV or monitor with HDMI after power cycling it? If you saw anything on screen, especially a Roon OS IP address or an error message, let us know what it showed, and we can take the next step from there. Thanks.

Hello @Steve_Dailey ,

We have reopened this thread as per your request. Can you please let us know the latest status regarding the issue? What did you see when you tried the HDMI test, can you please share a screenshot?

Thanks for the support. I am actually leaving the country 6 AM tomorrow. I will not be back until the 7-8 or 9. I will retry HDMI test when I return.

Please keep this ticket open.

Hello @Steve_Dailey

Thank you for the update.

The thread will be auto-closed. Please feel free to open a new one with a reference to the current one.

This is the best I know how to do my HDMI test. The room is hooked to my TV, powered and the TV does not recognize the unit as a source. Any other recommendations would be fine, however, I am tired of this and there’s something defective with this unit and I want a new unit. I’m tired of not having my music through Roon. It worked just fine and then it didn’t.
