I'm having trouble with my Nucleus hardware

· The power button light keeps turning on and off by itself

Does the Nucleus light turn on and off at a regular interval of approximately every minute?

· false

Describe the issue

My Nucleus One won't turn on. Pressing the power button makes the power button light flash momentarily, but doesn't stay light and the device doesn't turn on.

I tried holding the power button down for a long time and the power button light just flashes on repeatedly every 1-2 seconds but never actually turns on the device. I also tried unplugging the device from the power entirely for 20-30 minutes and replugging it back in. Runs into the same issue.

Hello @Ryan_Hart,

I’m sorry to hear your Nucleus One is refusing to cooperate. That flashing light behavior usually indicates the hardware is trying to “post” (start up) but is hitting a critical error immediately.

To help us narrow down whether this is a power supply issue or a problem with the internal Roon OS, we need to see what the unit is “thinking” during those flashes.

Could you please perform the following test?

  1. Connect your Nucleus One to a monitor or TV via the HDMI port on the back.
  2. Plug the power back in and press the power button.
  3. Observe the screen: Does any text appear, even for a split second? (Look for a "Roon OS" splash screen or a blinking cursor).
  4. If anything appears, please take a photo of the screen and upload it here.
Looking forward to seeing those results so we can determine the next step for your unit!

Just tested this and nothing appears on the screen

Hey @Ryan_Hart,

Thanks for the report! Unfortunately, a blank screen when connecting a Nucleus to a monitor via HDMI (while still connected to your router and powered on) indicates there is a hardware issue with your Nucleus. The best next step here is to get in touch with our RMA department directly, as they’re in charge of all hardware-related Nucleus issues. To do so, open the Typeform link below and select ‘Other’ followed by 'This issue is related to a physical component".
