Nucleus Power Button Non-Responsive, Ethernet Indicator Flashes When Plugged In (ref#7A7Q0Q)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· My roon nucleus will not power on when I press the power button on the back. Power is reaching it because the Ethernet indicator light flashes when nucleus is plugged in, but not when unplugged?

I had been thinking about upgrading to your new nucleus model … I use the nucleus as a source for my devialet expert pro mainly, but also like it to be a source for other apple home speakers throughout the house.

Should I upgrade, or should I try to get existing nucleus fixed? Also I am currently living in Portugal.

Thank you for your help and support.

· Nucleus is plugged directly into a ubiquity router for delivering streams to the devialet that is also wired to the router.

I also drive apple speakers in other rooms via wifi

Hello @ed1,

Thank you for reaching out.

Since the Nucleus is not powering on from the rear button but still shows activity on the Ethernet port, we first need to determine whether the unit is actually booting or if it is stuck at a hardware level.

Could you please connect the Nucleus to a TV or monitor via HDMI and power it on?
Then take a clear photo of whatever appears on the screen and share it here.

This will tell us whether the device is starting properly and help us advise whether repair or replacement is the correct next step.

We’ll review the photo as soon as you send it.

Hi @ed1,

And if you attach a USB keyboard to your Nucleus and press the ESC key to boot the device normally, what do you see?

I do not have a usb keyboard, only Bluetooth ones?

Anyway to test without usb keyboard?

Hi @ed1,

Before we proceed - the image you shared isn’t the expected RoonOS recovery screen - this menu is the NUC BIOS splash screen, indicating that the system couldn’t find a valid boot device, so it paused at the hotkey menu instead of loading RoonOS.

Please try powering down the Nucleus completely, and then fully disconnect any and all externals (USB, etc) except the HDMI output to the display. Wait thirty seconds and power the unit back on.

Do you see a different menu this time?

Yep new situation … it appears to be an Ethernet port issue. I get a slower blinking yellow on lower rhs and a solid orange on lower lhs. Now showing this screen:

I finally got connected and reset everything through web address admin console … I appear to be ok now

Doing a backup

Thanks for the help!

Hello @ed1,

Thank you for the update.

After completing the backup, could you please reboot the Nucleus once more and let us know whether it boots successfully without any further interaction on your side?

Thanks — we’ll wait for your update.

Reboot successful
