A bit more detail: One USB has my ripped CDs and older playlists. That is recognized. The other USB is where I had set up a backup. It is not recognized now. I checked both USBs on a pc and they seem to be error free. The drive that is not recognized is formatted correctly as ROON used to back up to it no problem.
Thank you for your patience. I’ve had a look at the system logs from your Nucleus+, and there is some interesting information there.
The good news is that the Nucleus hardware does physically see both of your drives:
USB 2-4: Western Digital (My Passport)
USB 2-5: Seagate (Portable)
However, while the hardware is detected, the operating system is failing to “mount” the partition on one of them. This usually happens if the file system was flagged as “unclean” (for example, if it was unplugged from a PC without using “Safely Remove Hardware”). Linux (which runs the Nucleus) is very strict about this and will refuse to open the drive to prevent data corruption.
To fix this, please try the following:
Perform a “Deep Repair” on your PC: Plug the unrecognized drive into your Windows PC. Instead of just checking if the files are there, right-click the drive in File Explorer, go to Properties > Tools > Error Checking, and click Check. Even if it says no errors are found, choose to Scan and repair drive.
Eject Safely: Once the repair is finished, you must use the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon in the system tray before unplugging it. This clears the “dirty bit” flag that is currently blocking the Nucleus.
If that doesn’t work: Could you let me know which of the two drives (the WD or the Seagate) is the one containing your backups? Also, knowing the format (NTFS or exFAT) would be very helpful.
