I have a Nucleus rev b that refuses to appear in my network Roon device list. I was using it as an end point only but it started to go missing. Rebooting the Mac I have core on would eventually get it back, to show in the list. But now it’s gone for good. I even tried to launch it as a core but I can’t. It’s a good looking brick. What can fix it?
Describe your network setup
Comcast modem, Cisco gigabyte switch, 8 ports, Eero mesh with two devices. However, I have all the Roon core and nucleus hard wired with cat 5 or 6 cable.
Fellow user here, I would suggest plugging a monitor up to the Nucleus and see (capture a pic) of what is displayed on the screen when you start it up. If it is working okay it should display it’s IP address.
I am not seeing any Nucleus tied to your account at all, which is likely due to the Nucleus not having been active for more than 30 days. I would second the suggestion of trying the HDMI test, we also have the following troubleshooter specifically tailored for Nucleus hardware issues:
I have done all that troubleshooting up to the point of somehow connecting to the Nucleus. Nothing in that routine worked. Also, when I look at my entire network on a computer, there is no evidence of the Nucleus, either in wifi or ethernet. I guess that I could plug an HDMI into it and see what comes on the screen but what good does that do?
ok, I plugged an HDMI into the Roon and it simply says Searching for network address. thats. it. And. yes, this is a good ethernet cable into a fully functional switch that is actively up on my LAN.
Hi @charles_pick,
Since the Nucleus is unable to get an IP address assigned to it we should reset the network settings on the Nucleus. You will need a USB keyboard to do this. Here are the steps.
Connect the Nucleus to a monitor or TV via HDMI
Connect a USB keyboard to the Nucleus
Press ENTER
Type resetnetwork
Press ENTER
If you are still unable to see your Nucleus on the network after that it would signify a hardware issue with the Nucleus’ ethernet port. In that case you can submit an RMA through the link that @noris provided to you.
I have a dead Nucleus. I’ve been through all of the troubleshooting, it was explained how to do the reset and that didn’t work. Next step is to return the device to you to fix it as I was told I have a hardware issue. But I can’t get Daniel to return my emails to explain how. This was the reference number. UXHQI6
Describe your network setup
Cisco switch from Motorola router/modem. Hard cat 5 cable. No WiFi connections.
We’ve merged your new thread with your old thread - that was auto-closed due to no response within the 14 day thread timer. As @anon15113244 has shared above, all the next steps needed are provided here.
I’d also bypass your network switch in the meantime, and get a direct ethernet connection to your primary router.
I clicked the link but I dont what RMA means. I did all the troubleshooting. I have done the reset thing, I have subbed out cables, bypassed the network switch and even replaced the switch with another. But nothing. At this point Im supposed to return the unit to you for repair. How do I do that?
RMA stand for Return Merchandise Authorization, its used to get in touch with our hardware team. Please complete the below form to get a case started, thanks!
Hi, The link you provide is not for an RMA, it’s for the. troubleshooting routine that Ive now completed three times. It’s already been conformed. that I have a hardware issue and this device has been a brick for months now. Can you please provide a shipping label or actually tell me how to send you the unit for repair. I am sorry to report that Im running out of patience after three completions of that routine only to get to the end where it says that it will be posted to the users forum! Please help!
