· Nucleus shows “Missing CODECS” in web UI. OS reinstall completed successfully. Roon Server uptime is stable and increasing. CODECS folder is empty. Network blocks codec download and I do not have router/DNS access. Cannot move Nucleus to a different network. This is not a DIY ROCK install. Please advise supported resolution.
Thank you for the reply. I was listening to music and it just stoped playing. I decided to reinstall from web interface and this is how it left me…“No CODECS”. This is a ROON install that’s been running for years.
Interesting, so in this case the codecs disappeared before the reinstall? Seems a different sequence than the way it looked in the several other cases, but it’s surely all related. Wait for Roon support to come back after the weekend. They will have to fix this, I doubt there is anything you can do.
Update: downloaded ffmpeg from the suggested site, unzipped and placed in the codecs directory and restarted the server. Error 44 no longer occurs, the client connects and everything seems to work but on the Nucleus web interface Missing Codecs remains in red in the Server section…
I had only tried with FLAC songs and it worked, now I tried an MP3 file and I can’t hear anything… the streamer starts but then the song doesn’t play. The problem arose exactly as described by the other user, that is, after trying to reinstall the software because I had noticed strange behavior in the streamer. Now even playing flac files doesn’t work …
So the codecs don’t work and that’s probably why it’s still showing the red „Missing Codecs“ in the admin UI. Most likely you just made some mistake when reinstalling them.
There is definitely something wrong with this behavior and the exitcode 44 that Roon Labs must investigate
Maybe … I will try to attemp again a sw reinstall but I am pretty shure about the correct copy of ffmpeg (download, decompress, extract from archive and then copy in the codecs directory)
There is clearly something wrong with the system reinstall… Probably not worth messing with the codec until this is investigated by Roon support and fixed
Yesterday I tried to reinstall the sw because a strange slow down of the response from the server to achieve the home page from the front end (iPhone, iPad, etc.) and the story begin …
This and similar things happened before, and the problem in the past was always with Roon’s cloud servers. Most likely it is the same now, and most likely a related cloud server issue is causing the exitcode 44 when trying the reinstallation.
Sit tight and don’t mess with your server Wait for Roon to fix the backend.
