Hi @Diego_Fernandez,

Can you confirm that your Roon Server and all remotes are running the latest version of Roon.

https://community.roonlabs.com/t/roon-2-0-current-production-versions/213416/6?u=carl

 • If not please update.

 • If they are all current, as a troubleshooting step can you reboot the machine running Roon Server and any remotes.

Hope this helps, if not Roon support will be along to offer further assistance.

Thanks for the feedback.

Roon App running is the latest version 2.62 (build 1641)

Roon server version is 2.54 (build 1554). Don’t know if there’s a latest since every time I check for server updates I get “there was an error checking for an update” but don’t get the error nor if there is a newer version

It’s not, see the linked post shared for details.

This is the real issue, once updated you will see nugs.

Typically this error manifests when the Roon Server cannot communicate with Roon’s update services.

As a troubleshooting step can you first reboot your router and any associated network equipment.
Wait for it to re-establish a connection to tge internet.
Then reboot the machine that Roon Server is running on.

Hope this helps, if not Roon’s support team will be along with further assistance.

Hi @Diego_Fernandez,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! The failure to update is definitely the crutch of your issue here.

From a fresh Roon Server diagnostic report, we see he Roon updater has successfully downloaded the new files (as seen in your logs reaching 80%+) but lacks the authority to overwrite the old files in your /Applications folder or the ~/Library/Roon directory.

Can you check to see if Roon Server has full disk access?

macOS has become very strict about apps modifying files. If Roon doesn’t have the right permissions, the update will fail when it tries to swap the old version for the new one.

 1. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.
 2. Find Roon and Roon Server in the list.
 3. Ensure the toggle is turned ON.
 4. If it's already on, toggle it off and back on again to "refresh" the permission.
If that doesn’t help, let’s see if a fresh download and install helps:
 • Quit Roon and Roon Server completely (check the Menu Bar at the top right of your Mac for the Roon icon and select "Quit").
 • Go to the Roon Downloads page.
 • Download the macOS installer for Roon Server.
 • Open the .dmg file and drag Roon Server into your Applications folder.
 • When macOS asks if you want to "Keep Both" or "Replace," choose Replace. This forces the OS to update the permissions.

Let me know if either help, thank you Diego! :folded_hands:

Thank you big time! Looks like that’s the issue.

My Roon service is running in a Mac Mini at the office/studio. Will adjust settings as indicated.
