Nugs - Video sync: why not?

Nugs integration is really a wonderful addition to Roon, but I feel like there is also a missed opportunity here.

Many nugs shows provide both audio and video selections and using nugs app we can enjoy both. In roon however we only get the audio. I can understand that Nugs does not allow 3rd party to stream their video content, but surely there are technical means on how to synchronize roon playback via my super cool audio system with my TV running nugs app.

Now I need to settle for mediocre audio performance with great video, or great audio experience via roon without video, or fiddle around both apps to manually sync the streams…not ideal.

With that, the same goes for Tidal videos…

Does your TV not have an optical output that you can plug into the HiFi?

Sure, but then we miss the whole point of integrating with Roon and its DSP and other goodies.

Then I can simply use Nugs app and forget about Roon …

Also my TVs optical out is quite bad. Same source material via TV optical out to my Hifi gear sounds much worse than if played via Roon. I did test multiple other sources via optical and all sound good, just the TV is not good. I expect they do some sound processing before sending out even though I set it to direct PCM out.

That’s true, of course. Still, for watching the occasional concert movie…
