NVidia NVS driver crashes with Roon

Just posting this as information for anyone interested. I have 2 Nvidia NVS 290 and 295 video cards on a single DELL workstation. I put Windows 10 on it and updated the video card driver to the following:

Version: 341.81 WHQL
Release Date: 2015.8.24
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
CUDA Toolkit: 6.5
Language: English (US)
File Size: 205.74 MB

I would constantly get Blue Screen crashes with Roon and usually with browser based videos playing at the same time. For example, listening to music while watching a baseball game on mlb.com.

I then went back to Windows 2012 R2, which I had running well for 3 years with an older Nvidia driver. However, this time I upgraded the driver to the following:

Version: 341.81 WHQL
Release Date: 2015.9.2
Operating System: Windows Server 2008 x64, Windows Server 2008 R2 64, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2 64
CUDA Toolkit: 6.5
Language: English (US)
File Size: 202.79 MB

I would now occasionally get Roon to blow up. However, the blow up would not take the whole OS down.

I then went back to an older version of the Nvidia driver:

Version 309.08

This has resulted in a very stable OS and Roon. I did some research and have an idea why this the case with the NVS hardware. With Windows 10, there is a new display framework that the NVS hardware does not support. However, the OS has a legacy display framework for older hardware. It looks like NVidia messed up in writhing the new driver for the legacy stuff. I am surprised that the latest Windows 2012 R2 Nvidia driver also has problems with Roon since I doubt that the display tech on 2012 R2 is as advanced as in Windows 10. The developers must have taken the Windows 10 driver codebase and used the same design for the latest drivers.

Whatever, the case I now have 2 machine with the same hardware configuration, at work and home, and they both are now successfully running with the older Nvidia drivers and Roon + browser videos.
