Hi @Rudi_Hartmans,

Do these tracks follow any pattern? Are they local files, or are they coming from a streaming service? If they are from a streaming service, which one, TIDAL or Qobuz?

Hi Noris, they are local files, all in my iTunes Music library. The pattern is that for some files I recent added them to a iTunes playlist. I also use Rekordbox with the same files. So adding them to a playlist suddenly make them show up at ‘recently added’. The data of the file isn’t changed.

See my prior message, any thoughts? What can I do?

Can I get some support please?

Is it possible that, even though the files’ data has not been changed, the files’ modification dates have been updated? What do you have set in your Library’s Import Date settings? See:

Hi Geoff, the modification dates haven’t changed. I’m using Roon for years now (satisfactory) and never had this issue, until now.

So try switching to the File Creation time (aanmaaktijd bestand) to see what effect that has - you can always switch back if it doesn’t solve your issue.

That did the trick! Any idea why this changed all of a sudden?

Well, I suspect that some other software did in fact touch the files and change the modification date on them…

I have my Import settings set to File Creation time to avoid this…

Hello @Rudi_Hartmans,

I am glad to hear that the setting adjustment did the trick! A huge thank you to @Geoff_Coupe for jumping in and providing the perfect solution. His explanation is spot on—background software (like backup tools, tag editors, or even OS file indexers) will frequently update the modification date of files, which can throw off Roon’s sorting if it is set to rely on that specific timestamp. Using the creation time is definitely the most stable long-term setting.

Since everything is working properly now, I will go ahead and close this thread. If you ever need help with anything else, please feel free to open a new topic. Happy listening!
