Oldstyled Hifi Amplifier and Roon?

Hello everyone,
I would like to connect a Roon ready or similar to my old analog hi-fi stereo system (with Technics power amplifier).
This should receive the signal via Airplay2 and at best send it to the amplifier via RCA or Toslink.
Which device is recommended for this?

Thank you very much.

Why are you specifying this? Surely, you’d want to take advantage of Roon’s native technology, with others for casual users?

All you need is listed here:

So, it would be useful to set a guide budget for recommendations and how you intend to connect the device to your network.

You mention RCA (analogue) and Toslink (digital) connects. Are you certain the old analogue hi-fi supports a digital input?

WiiM are popular for offering quality and features at a reasonable price. They are Roon Ready / Roon Tested, too. However, there are plenty of options.

For example, …

Thank you very much.
Yes, the amplifier has 2 Toslink inputs, one of which is already occupied by the CD player.
The part is from around 1989-1990.
It would be great if it could be connected via WLAN. I only mentioned Airplay 2 because I’m familiar with it and am not yet familiar with Roon (and its advantages?).
Something around 100€ would be suitable.

I use an old Denon AVR-2805 with RCA in from Meridian Prime pre-amp. I feed the pre-amp via USB from Raspberry Pi4 connected by WIFI to my router. Never any problems and sounds great with 50 year old Pioneer HPM-60 speakers.

Unless you want to go down the DIY route as @Jim_F suggests, €100 won’t go far. The Wiim Pro Plus will set you back around €200, and probably ticks all the boxes. A Raspberry Pi plus DAC hat, PSU, SD-card, and case is doable for around €180, but you’ll need some basic IT skills to assemble and install the needed software, e.g., Ropieee.

I know what option I’d go for nowadays.

PS. Do not buy the WiiM Pro (sans Plus) as its analogue output is poor.

I will try my older Apple TV via Airplay, it has a Toskink too.

Edit: it works, but it has a delay of 10 seconds…not good and I don’t know that from the Apple TV either.
With Apple Music or Spotify, it hat no lags.
Can i make some Settings in Roon?

Edit2: The Roon App on macOS does not find the Apple TV as Output…Why??

I’d 2nd’ed this reply. Wiim Pro Plus would best fit for you. As I’ve all three version of the Wiim. Pro Plus is right in the middle of the road solution without burning your pocket.
