Not working for me. After allowing notifications (which was already on - I toggled it off then on again for good measure), I restarted my pixel 8 and then tried the app again. This time it got further. It actually opened for two seconds, then quit just as before. Now it begins to launch, but then it quits right away, not opening at all just like before. Not complaining, just letting you know. Glad someone is working on it.
Hi @David_Corell,
It sounds like the issue you are experiencing may not be related to this “notifications disabled” issue.
Given the timing, I suggest trying the new release from Roon but if that doesn’t help reach out to Roon.
To equip the Roon Technical Support team to assist you directly, please follow this link to provide the details of your case to Technical Support: Technical Support Request .
I have a similar issue, and the new version 1673 didn’t fix it: when the VPN is enabled, the app minimizes after 2 seconds. If I disable the VPN, the app launches normally and works correctly. However, the VPN only tunnels certain apps, and Roon Remote isn’t listed.
Hi @David_Corell, @Atiss,
We’re going to split your most recent posts into a dedicated topic thread since these reports have separate causal mechanisms.
Please reproduce the issue with Roon Remote (1673) on your Android phones at your convenience. We’ve enabled verbose logging; even if the app remains open for only a few seconds, it should upload logs to our cloud servers. @Atiss, if necessary, you can disable the VPN to allow Roon to open and complete the upload.
Thank you and we’ll share more information as soon as possible.
Hi Connor!
I reproduced the error today at 6:30 AM local time: I launched the app with the VPN enabled and it crashed, then I disabled the VPN and opened the app normally. I hope the logs were transferred.
@connor Once you are able to get those logs could you reach out to me?
All is well. Roon remote now working. I had the free VPN that is included in Netgear Armor running. I had no idea it was running. Not sure if it switches on by default. Anyway, long story short, turned it off and low and behold roon remote started working again flawlessly. Storybook ending. Thanks for your help.
Hi @David_Corell,
Thanks for verifying. We’ve unmarked the solution until we pin this down. A VPN could cause some discovery issues, but it shouldn’t cause the Roon app to crash.
@Atiss, we captured the reproduction event. Thank you for your help and we’ll follow up with more information as soon as it’s available.
