Onkyo RZ740 as Roon tested device, Elac Discovery 101G as Roon endpoint all on ethernet and latest firmware
Description Of Issue
Onkyo RZ740 worked well with Chromecast, then disappeared from the audio zone list after a normal shutdown. Reset the Onkyo and signed in to Chromecast service on the Onkyo and I could reassign Onkyo740 as an audio zone. Played for hours, but after normal shutdown the problem reappeared.
Airplay was available at all times, but not an alternative. The embedded Chromecast function of the Onkyo works normally.
Any thoughts on this?
To clarify here, what did you shut down to reproduce this issue? The Windows 10 Core or the Onkyo?
Your other audio devices still remained visible? If you have any other Chromecast zones, did those continue to appear in the audio tab?
Where is the Onkyo plugged in? Is it connecting via Ethernet or to one of the Netgear switches? What is the model of the Netgear switches you’re using?
Thank you for sharing the diagram, it is appreciated.
Since you mentioned you have a Fritzbox router, do you by any chance have “Software Packet Acceleration” turned on? As per our Networking Best Practices Guide:
FRITZ OS 7
The FRITZ OS 7 update includes a feature called “Software Packet Acceleration” that can cause issues with remote connectivity. We recommend disabling this setting from the FRITZ GUI.
a little late in responding. My fritzbox 7530 does not feature this option. In the meantime, I changed the standard DNS server setting on the Onkyo from the router address 192.168.178.1 to an external router like 8.8.8.8. For reasons unknown to me it works now reliably.
