Description of Issue
For a long time, most live radio stations will not play. I live in Germany and most german stations i have tried fail to play. i have tried also stations from other countries and this issue seems to extend to all european stations that i have tried. these include Anntenne Bayern (various stations) BR (Bayern 1 and Bayern 3) SWR (various) , DFR (various), French talk shows, Radio Paradies, virtually everything i have tried in fact.
The only exceptions to this so far are UK Local private stations like Heart (various versions) and the main BBC stations which play fine.although strangley BBC local stations (like BBC bedford or Cambridge) do not play either.
in all cases i get one of the following errors:
playback was interrupted as a station failed to load or
this station is no longer available or may have changed it’s address.
Obviously i have tried different quality streams where offered but in every case i have tried, none of them work.
This error occurs on every device i have that supports Roon irrespective where it is in the network.
i have been experiencing this issue for the last two years - originally (perhaps up to 2020) it functioned fine then it stopped and hasn’t worked properly since. i have changed my network setup several times (two different routers and different switches) and even moved to a different state. updated firmware on multiple devices tried with different cables and hardwired and wifi (when the device supports it) and even added new Roon compatible devices (the Chord Poly 2 is the newest).
if i select the very same radio stations using UPnP software (like Bubble UPnP or Cambridge audio Streammagic app) on the same Roon compatible devices, the radio stations are all available and play error free.
I’m stumped. it’s vexing and irritating but i have tolerated it because i can access the stations another way. Now, as a life subscriber, i think i need finally a solution.
