OnOff SHIM (micro-USB) by Pimoroni supported?

Just wanted to ask if there is support for an ON/OFF button on PI like the one offered by Pimoroni??

I use an Argon One V2 case for RPi4 and that has a power button at the back that will power the pi on and will also power it off (either safely or abruptly depending upon how it is configured and pressed). The Argon One case needs a script to be run to manage the button.

I have also seen this On Off Shim. However, this also requires some software to be installed.

## Software

We’ve put together a one-line-installer to install the clean shutdown daemon. It watches the state of BCM pin 17 and, when pulled low (pressed), it initiates a clean shutdown. Last thing, just before your Pi shuts down, BCM pin 4 is pulled low to completely cut power to your Pi.

To install the software, open a terminal and type curl https://get.pimoroni.com/onoffshim | bash to run the one-line-installer.

I’m not sure how either one of these work using Ropieee.

You cannot install anything in RoPieee therefore it won’t work at all …

Not what you are asking, but just wanted to mention that you can safely turn off the power on a Ropieee system. It doesn’t write to the disk in normal operation - and so no damage is done.

I have multiple Ropieee devices attached to a remote power switch which turns off overnight and when there is no one home - and it has run for more than a year without any problems.

That’s what I always do with 4 ROPIEEE here, but I heard of SD-Cards getting defective by doing so…
