Oops i think I messed up (lost my listening history)

I started using Roon this week and LOVE it! However, I think I made a small mistake and want to clarify what happened to make sure I don’t do it again.

So, I have Tidal and Qobuz connected. Over the week, I added a few albums to my library. To do this, I would search for an album, look at the different versions, and then add the one I wanted to my library.

I listened to one album for a couple of hours, but today I realized it was the censored version and I wanted the explicit one.

Here’s where I think I made the mistake: I clicked on the album, then clicked “Edit” and “Delete Album,” and finally added the explicit version.

The problem is that this messed up my listening history. I’m now down to just 10 minutes, which is the listening time for the new album.

TL;DR: What’s the proper way to remove an album or track from your library without affecting your listening history?

I’m not sure there is. Listens are on a per version instance.

For example, I have 1 Weather Report album in my library (DSD), but, I have listened to both the 176.4 version on Qobuz and never the 44.1 version. They all have different play counts with the 44.1 being 0 across all tracks.

Example, i listened to Gracie Adams for 3 hours. Deleted the album, added another one, listened for 15 minutes, and if i looked at my stats on the homepage, Gracie Abrams have 15 minutes listen time.

Not a big deal, but trying to figure out the logic.

You can restore a backup to get back to the earlier state. (This episode taught you the importance of Roon database backups before more was lost  )

However, the fact that so much in Roon is tied to specific versions of an album and can’t be copied over to a different version either, can sometimes be annoying.

If the OP adds the album again, history for that version should reappear, so long as clean library hasn’t been used.
