I’m having some major issues with my 2009 imac when my mac was upgraded to Sierra. This issue maybe part of a bigger issue with my iMac but has anyone else experienced this?
I received a Fatal Error “OpenGL 3.0 or higher is required” The video drivers on this system don’t support OpenGL 3.0.
I was going to see whether I could just download the software but my iMac now fails to boot
Hi @Matthew_Taylor ---- Sorry to hear about the troubles with your iMac. I am not sure how much we can do for you on the startup issues, but I believe that iMac should support OpenGL, as mentioned here.
I assume Apple will be helping you get the machine booting again, but let us know if you’re still seeing OpenGL issues after that and we can definitely take a look.
I’ll let you know how I get on but I fear the iMac is dead & it will need to be replaced. Most likely replacement will be a late 2012 iMac (2.9 Ghz i5 with 8 GB RAM).
