Describe the issue

My message sent to Roon support yesterday has been redirected to this link. My original message is:

Describe your network setup

Hello

I installed Roon Arc some time ago and, initially, it worked well.

In more recent times, I am not able to get this service working. When I request it, I get a "spinning" logo prompting me to wait but no content loads and no files can be played. Earlier today, I received a message saying:

There's an issue with your Roon Server: Your Roon Server is online but there's an issue that's preventing access. Go to the Roon app for more information

I cannot find information on the Roon app.

My music server works perfectly in my audio environment. Only remote access via Roon Arc is not working.

Any tips to fix this? (Yes, I have tried - several times - to restart the server and there is no change.)

Thank you, Marc

Hi @Marc_Brillon,

What do you see in Roon Settings → ARC? The particular error diagnostic should be listed there.

If you’ve set up port forwarding via automatic configuration and it’s now failing, then it’s possible that your internet service provider has made changes upstream of your account.

I recommend switching to Tailscale instead on this RoonServer machine, which is more reliable than port forwarding:

Hi Connor - thank you for this and hope you had a nice Christmas.

My ARC config details are in the attached snip. I can’t figure out what is going on as the settings seem fine. Earlier today, I tried ARC in the car. A menu pops up but no content is seen. Any tips or advice to fix this are welcome.

Thanks again, Marc

Hi @Marc_Brillon,
Was this with Tailscale or port forwarding? If you’re using port forwarding the thing to understand about this page is that it tests a connection from your server to our servers through the port you opened. It doesn’t actually test the connection to your phone. What this means is that something like a VPN on the phone itself or on your Roon server is blocking the connection. Is anything like that active on either device?

Hi Daniel and thanks.

I am not really clear on what Tailscale or port forwarding is (as it related to RoonArc functionality) - all I know is that RoonArc was working and then stopped working, with the “something is wrong” massage generated by Roon which I detailed in an earlier message…

So, I resorted to an uninstall of the app on my phone and then a reinstall and re-connect to Roon on my phone (and I restarted my music server). Seems to have resolved the the issue as RoonArc is currently functional.

I would love to know what went wrong but for now an “old school” IT problem-solving technique appears to have worked.
