OS update requires a database update

UPDATE

Bizarre but it just started working again. Roon found the Core and I also got this message that the OS update requires a database update. But I did not make an OS update.

To be safe and not lose anything, is there anything I should do? Reinstall the OS? Restart the server software? Reset database and settings? I have Roon set to backup to Dropbox.

ORIGINAL POST

I’m having the same issue – Roon Core on Nucelus is suddenly inaccessible. I went to restart it after a couple of days of slow responsiveness in playing music, thinking it just needed that. After restarting, it’s no longer accessible.

Description of Issue

Roon Core on Nucelus is suddenly inaccessible. I went to restart it after a couple of days of slow responsiveness in playing music, thinking it just needed that. After restarting, it’s no longer accessible. I have restarted the Nucleus+ several times.

Roon apps cannot connect to the Core. I tried Configure Roon OS devices on your network – The Nucelus+ shows up with an IP address, but if you click or tap that it cannot connect. (screenshot below)

The ethernet connection on the back of the Nucleus+ is blinking, as I understand it’s supposed to. It shows up in the list of connected devices in the Orbi app, connected to the satellite. So it’s on the network and findable. But it does not show up under Network in the OSX finder.

Without the web interface, is there a way to do a hard reset of the Nucleus+? Is there anything else I can try to troubleshoot?

From responses above, it sounds like there may be a hardware failure in the Nucleus+. It is at least two years old.

If I have to have it repaired or purchase a new one, can I temporarily install the Core on the MacBook Pro until the new device arrives?

I posted in another thread, then found this one. A few days ago Roon started taking longer to load the next songs, either when playing an album song to song or by selecting the next song. Today, I restarted my Nucelus+ thinking that was what was needed, but now the Core is entirely unavailable.

Details are in the linked thread.

Before I give up my Nucelus+ for dead I want to troubleshoot as much as I can. But that’s challenging in that I cannot access the Core no matter what I try. If the Nucleus+ was dying, I wonder if the lag between songs was a symptom of that.

QQ: if the Nucelus+ is dead, I’ll order a new one. In meantime I assume I can build a new Core on my MacBook Pro until the new device arrives. However, if I can’t transfer the core from the Nucelus+ then everything will start from scratch – iow complete reset?

I can reset up playback devices, but I would love to maintain the order of when albums were added, since I like to explore the new stuff a lot (top of the list).
