For the past few months I notice that Paralles for window on my Mac Studio blocks my Roon endpoints. I have 2 of them. I have a Meridian 218 and a Mytek Brooklyn bridge. Sometimes the Brooklyn Bridge shows. The Meridian 218 never does. I have to Quit Roon, Quit Paralles. Load Roon and then assign the 218 endpoint. After that I can run Paralles. Does any one have this issue? Is there a setting to prevent Paralles from blocking the 218 endpoint in Roon?
@Mitchell_Wax, welcome to the Community. I ran Parallels on my Mac but never tried to run Roon as my Mac was fine as both my Roon Core or a Remote. Are you running Roon as a Core or Remote in Parallels? I’d recommend it as a Remote only as Roon is not compiled for the ARM architecture and therefore needs to be translated under Parallels on your Studio.
Have you checked your firewall settings in Windows on Parallels and confirm that exceptions are made for roon.exe and raatserver.exe?
Thank you for replying. I run Roon on the Mac side as a core. I only have parallels and use it for Quicken for windows. There is no home and business version for Mac. Every time my Mac restarts I must open Roon first before starting Parallels. If I don’t Roon will not find the Meridian 218 endpoint.
I know nothing about ARM architecture. Is that architecture used under the Mac OS or that a windows architecture?
I will put those exceptions in my firewall settings
Appreciate the clarifications. I thought you were running Roon on the Windows VM on Parallels. What you have clarified is a different issue.
I didn’t have any issues running my Roon Core on my MBPro 2019 when Parallels was running separately. Are you running Parallels 18? I just stopped using it so cannot open and check on network and other connections.
Under both the Meridian and BB, do you have these configured in Exclusive mode from within Roon?
Apple’s new silicon chips are ARM based. So if your Mac has an M1 or M2 processor then your Mac runs on ARM.
