Path compatibility issue during Roon migration from Windows to Linux (ref#94F0AP)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Music won’t play or issues with my library

Music won’t play or issues with my library

· Trouble creating or restoring backups

Tell us what's going on

· I am currently running Roon Server in Windows. I want to transfer everything to a linux system. The problem is that when I install Roon in linux, I cannot restore the full database, since the paths are different. Currently my path for my music in Windows is C:\Music, while linux has a different directory format. This results to a some parts of the library being lost (my custom saved playlists, tags and  songs.

As it seems my local music on my linux server is treated like it's "new", since the path has to be different.

Is there a way to make the transition without having to lose these parts of my library?

Hello @Dimtiris_Stathis,

Thanks for reaching out.

To ensure Roon recognizes the files in the new location as the original copies (preserving your library data), you need to edit the existing storage location rather than adding a new one.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings → Storage.
  2. Locate the old storage folder.
  3. Click the three dots (menu icon) next to it and select Edit.
  4. Browse to and select the new folder location.
Let us know if this solves the problem. If not, please share a screenshot of your Storage settings so we can take a closer look.

Thanks.

Thanks. I will try it in the weekend (if not earlier) and I will report back.

Perfect, we’ll be monitoring for your reply - thank you @Dimtiris_Stathis!
