Describe the issue
Loosing PC audio device in roon. I have problem with Roon in the last couple of weeks. Couldn’t find the solution so I format my PC and to my surprise when I install Roon I cannot found my audio device on the PC. All drivers are installed and the sound is working in Windows 11 but no audio device in Roon. So I uninstall Roon and redownload the latest version which to my surprise also include the Roonserver (I prefer the old way) seperate installation for Roon and Roonserver.
Maybe have an option during the installation to select to install only Roon or Roon server or both ?
I use a NUC in the living room as the Roon server and only use Roon server on the NUC. But both the Roon and Roonserver were installed. I also have a NAD C658 as DAC streamer which is not affected by the audio device lost in Roon.
Since I have no audio device detected on the PC I decide to uninstall all the roon software on both PC and NUC. I know I lost everything but couldn’t find the solution.
I have delete all the Roon, Roonserver, in the C:\Users\username\AppData\Local
Reinstall Roon on the NUC and only start Roon server.I wont use Roon on the NUC.
I reinstall Roon on the PC another time. Connect to the Core on the NUC.
I also set ESET to learning mode. This mode accepted automatically all the communication and set them as a rules for the firewall. It work as long I don’t reboot my PC.
So I uninstall the antivirus & firewall to remove this out of the equation. Again I still loose my audio device on the PC but the PC is always connect the Roon server and never loose connection with the PC.
What is strange when I get this behaviour is in the audio settings for my PC I see “Intel Display Audio” which don’t work. It’s somehow Roon server get mix up and loose the audio device or it’s the computer or something.
But I never loose the NAD C658 in the audio device. It’s always there.
The only solution I found to get the audio device (Sound Blaster Z sound card) on the PC is to logout from the Roon server and restart the NUC and Roon Server (NUC) and reboot the PC and reconnect the PC with the Roon server. Then my audio device will be available on the PC.
As soon I reboot my PC I loose the audio device on the PC in Roon.
Then I have to redo all the step above to fix the issue. I start to have this problem around the last 2 software update (Roon)
I can also just logoff from the roon server and connect again to the roon server and the audio device will show up again in Roon on the PC.
Really annoying and I never had issue with Roon for many years.
Thanks
