Persistent "Error Loading Library" on Nucleus Titan (ref#7N8NC4)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· Music won’t play or issues with my library

Music won’t play or issues with my library

· Trouble creating or restoring backups

Tell us what's going on

· I am using the Roon Nucleus Titan with an internal SSD drive - latest firmware. I received the “There was an error loading your library” error message.

I tried to restore from a backup, but the software immediately returned to the “There was an error loading your library” error message.

I then did some online research into this issue. I went to the folder on my Mac computer and turned off the Roon Server. I then renamed the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_Old”.

I looked through the folders. Anew RoonServer folder was created and the system was restored, after an hour or so of restoration. Once complete, I then opened the Roon app. Everything was fine for about 10 seconds. Then, the “There was an error loading your library” error message reappeared.

Back to ground zero. Thanks in advance for your help.

Tell us about your home network

· I have a Spectrum internet router. The Roon Nucleus is connected directly to the router switch. The connection is 1 GB per second.

Exactly the same thing happend to me in May. I have since then stopped using Roon an I am quite unsure if I will come back to the Product. (And I have purchased a lifetime subscription)

Basically you and me will have lost ALL data. Sure, metadata from all those ripped CDs will come back, but for me almost 6 years of Qobuz streaming related data is lost. (And I have dozens of backup on multiple machines)

My experience in may of this year was:

There is no proper support that deserves the name.

There are no proper Responses from Roon.

While the product has many attractive features, database and backup/related base features seem inferior and immature from a software perspective. Forums (here and on reddit) are full with posts of users who also lost their data.

Over a period of almost 6 years I had 3 or 4 database corruptions caused by updates, but Restore did work. The software update in may failed, and after trying to Restore around 30 different backups I had to give up.

I am hesitating to come back to Roon because these problems still exist, and it is likely you will experience further complete data losses in the future.

Roon could easily provide methos to export/import data to stable, sustainable formats, but it seems this aspect of product quality ranks low on their priority list.

I wish you all the best and I’m curios if you will find any other resolution besides loosing ALL data or quitting Roon.

Hi @Brian_Payne,

Thank you for your report and we’re sorry to hear you’re encountering this unfortunate problem.

We’ve examined logs from the most recently created server and can confirm this is indeed corruption. When you say you took an hour to restore this database, do you mean you re-imported your library from scratch, or were you attempting to restore another saved Backup?

Please try restoring from your oldest available Backup. The team will examine logs closely and proceed from there.

@Alexander_Holy has a right to be frustrated. He reported his last two corruption events on Roon Community and our support team failed to follow up after in both cases. @Alexander_Holy, we’ll reopen your last thread and continue the investigation if you’re willing to reinstall Roon. We’ll send instructions for sending our team a copy of your database.

Here is a little bit more about Roon’s corruption detection.

Roon checksums every database object on startup, during background indexing, and on-the-fly as it reads files (it’s built using LevelDB). That said, the surface area of a large and growing Roon database is huge. If a power loss or hardware failure makes unexpected changes to a file, Roon immediately reports DB corruption.

It’s for this reason that we need to distinguish if @Brian_Payne experienced the most recent “there was an issue loading your library” on a fresh database rather than a Backup.

We’ll watch for @Brian_Payne’s response here. @Alexander_Holy, we’ll reach out shortly over here.

I tried to restore the oldest backup on this device, which I believe was from June 29, 2026. When I hit “restore”, I was immediately returned to the “There was an error loading your library” error page. Nothing happened.

Hey @Brian_Payne,

Thanks for the clarification! If you could, please bring your Nucleus back online, and we’ll enable auto-diagnostic mode to review the oldest backup / corrupt state more thoroughly.

Or, if possible, sharing a set of manual Roon Server logs from the Nucleus would also be helpful.

Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon Server logs from the Nucleus to our File Uploader? Once logs have been uploaded, please let us know so that we can check the server for your files, thanks!

Hi @Brian_Payne,

In order to proceed with this investigation, we’ll need insight into diagnostic logging on the affected Nucleus.

However, the machine hasn’t pinged our servers in at least a week, and we’ve not seen a reply to the post above.

Are you able to upload a copy of one of your Backups here?
