I keep getting the message, "Waiting for your Roon server" on the iMac that is hosting the Roon app
Describe your network setup
iMac is connecting wirelessly to router. This is a late 2015 model running macOS 12.7.5. It is a 4GHz Quad Core Intel i7 with 32Gb RAM and 1Tb SSD. This connects to a Vodafone Ultra Hub with wifi 6E. From this I run a network cable to a Roon Endpoint / RoPieee Streamer Pi4 B.
The iMac now fails to load the Roon server and when it does it often fails to see the Roon endpoints on the network.
Can you help me diagnose the issues on the network because it is now so unreliable that I will be forced to cancel my Roon subscription.
Hi @Paul_Jennings,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. I activated diagnostics on your account. It looks like you have been able to use your server. Are you still having this problem?
Yes, it has been working sporadically. I have run a network cable between the router and the iMac. The Raspberry Pi device is also hardwired to the router.
I have rebooted the iMac several times this evening because I am still experiencing errors.
Frequently I get an error that reads, “TIDAL media is loading slowly. This may indicate a networking or connectivity problem.” This is presented in a black box. Then, I need to reboot Roon and the computer. When it plays it sounds glorious. But, most of the time it doesn’t play.
For your Tidal issues, we have seen users have a better experience in the past if they change their Router’s DNS servers from the ISP provided ones to Cloudflare DNS, Quad9 or Google DNS. Can you please give this a try and let me know if it helps?
